I have lived several places, but the two I like best, at least in this country, are Seattle, where I grew up, and San Diego, where I live now, retired. It seems that my tastes in this regard are similar to the OP's.

After many years of failed tries, I quit a few years ago. For me it was a combination of being totally "fed up" with it, willpower and nicotine patches.
Yeah, here's the funny thing: I've had this car for awhile and only glanced through the manual a few times. Just before I posted here I looked at the section about the door locks etc. more closely. This car has quite a lot of gadgetry and I suspect there are quite a few things it "does" which I...
I think that this new meetup thing is going to spread. When and if it gets to the Pacific NW, I'll be torn. Like the idea, but one of the things I like about this forum is the anonymity.
Fisherman, I looked through my owners guide for a half hour or so and missed the sentence which said that if I held the unlock button down for three seconds or so, the front windows roll down also. I was putting the remote in my jeans pocket, then bending over to put on and tie my shoes...
P. Bum, Thanks. The person reporting the problem was not me. I won't bore anyone further with this, but solution #2 is very relevant. Am 80% sure my prob is solved.
I know that nearly everyone on this forum has more knowledge about all things electronic and technological than I. Please help. I'll be glad to give more details if necessary, but here are the basics. Sometimes I park my car ('06 Lincoln Zephyr) on the street in front of my house. On several...

Right after 9/11 there were many talking heads saying things like "life in America will never be the same again".
Similarly to Al, I've seen little noticeable difference in our daily lives other than hassles at airports due to that day. In both cases I don't get why they make these type of...
My comment is really not in line with the subject of the thread (bankruptcy), but your comment above really jumped out at me. If he was working outside the home and your daughter was staying with the kids would you consider her unproductive? This forum seems a strange place to express opinions...
I didn't vote because from ages 1 to 18 we lived in places fitting all of the categories. Like most of you, I roamed far and wide by bicycle, foot and public transit, alone or with friends. To me it's sad that this is no longer possible. There are things about childhood today which are better...
Thank you all for the advice. I need something for web surfing, e-mail and doing necessary business (banking, etc.) while traveling. It do not need a lot of bells and whistles. I will research all of your suggestions. A netbook computer might be just the thing for me. Maybe I have dismissed...
I am not particularly computer savvy.
I need a new laptop, but almost all of the PC's on the market seem to include Vista, about which I have heard very few good things.
Don't want to pay for Apple.
Suggestions?
Many of you who are single or conjecturing about being single have stated you would have no desire to remarry, have an SO or date. Several have made great cases for their point of view. I agree with all of your points concerning the attendant hassles of dating, the lack of desire to be...
