2020 Fed Tax Refund Received!

Thanks for this thread I didn't feel the need to call, but started checking every Friday and today.. its my turn, says refund coming next week with a bit extra.

So now my question.. next year when they ask what my refund was as a security question, do you use the refund you filed or the refund you received?

The refund you filed.

The bit extra is interest, and it's taxable interest income to you, so make sure to report it on your 2021 return (Schedule B or on the main 1040, as applicable).
