2024 Investment Performance Thread

End of month I reported up 14%.

Last week was brutal.
This morning I lost as much as all of last week.

But I am still up about 5% YTD 2024.

Did not have the courage to buy anything this morning. Will see what happens over the next few days.
I may add a little of Matthews India Fund.

Any new data for end of month. I will have mine tomorrow.

I just added it up, and here's my latest:

1/31/2024: +0.78% YTD.
2/29/2024: +4.67% YTD.
3/28/2024: +7.33% YTD.
4/30/2024: +4.36% YTD.
5/31/2024: +8.58% YTD.
6/28/2024: +11.54% YTD.
7/31/2024: +12.75% YTD.
8/30/2024: +15.00% YTD.

The early part of August was a bit of a wild ride. By August 5, I was knocked down to where I was only up around 6.76% YTD. But, by around the middle of the month, the portfolio was back up to around the 7/31 amount, and from there it just kept creeping upward.

Up 17.01% YTD
99% Stock
all ETFs
still trailing S and P and Nasdaq slightly due to ~27% of portfolio exposure to small caps

Well, mine hit an all-time high but barely. July 16TH was my last highest number.

Today I'm sitting at 12.52% YTD. ~75-13-12

Not counting contributions on AA 90-0-10:
  • Investments are up 32% YTD
  • Net worth is up 24% YTD
  • 84% of FI goal

+16.6% ytd, inclusive of spending.

43% stock index funds
41% bond index funds
16% alternative assets [mod edit]

+9.6%, 2/3 equities, all-in. I haven't been running the numbers lately, and it's nice to see the good news.

AA is 65/35.

+10.54% on Total Portfolio balance YTD.

Will measure Total Performance at end of year.

edit to add: 0.069 - weighted avg e/r

High volatility choices such as TSLA and PLTR and other risky ideas. I was down 19% in 2022 with a lower equity percentage.
Nice. Yeah, some people can have a couple good stock picks and that can really have a big effect like that. I just learned a long time ago I’m not one of those people lol
Hence my commitment to indexing.

+10.5% YTD 60/40 allocation

Retirement investments are up 9.45% YTD. Very happy with that. 50/50 allocation.
