As I have done the last few years, I am starting a thread where you can post any year-end (2024, this time) cap gain and dividend distributions by your brokerage company.

Here is last year's thread:

Fidelity's just came out for year-end 2024. Its contents may change as they add more estimates to the mix. Maybe they include dividends again?

And here are Fidelity's 2024 estimates so far:

Distributions by Fidelity Mutual Funds - Fidelity

Unlike last year, I see nothing bizarre which would concern me and my taxes.

This site does a great job of collecting links to year end distribution estimates from all the mutual funds. It’s pretty much my go to.

Schwab link but no updates as of today (10/24)….https://www.schwabassetmanagement.com/resources/distributions-and-tax-center

My taxable account is at Vanguard and my monthly statements from them project what the total dividend amount for the year is likely to be.
I'll use my statement in early December to figure how big of a year-end Roth conversion to do.

I'll likely check their full distribution list for the fourth quarter when it comes out to make sure there's no surprise Capital Gains Distributions for any of the funds I own, but that's not likely since they're all index funds...

Thank you started doing mine yesterday long with looking at tax software. Planning time.

Ugh. I just received a larger-than-expected capital gains distribution from a managed fund (Jensen Growth, JENSX) that I've been stuck with for years. I haven't want to sell it because of the significant gains it has and I'm managing my income for ACA subsidy purposes. This year's distribution is about $5000 more than it was last year (and any previous year) which pretty much wipes out my income reduction for my HSA contribution. They also did the distribution yesterday, which is a full month earlier than in previous years. I guess they felt guilty and decided to do it now to give us more time to react to the tax situation. I'll probably have to pay back some of the ACA subsidy now. Grrrrr.

On the good side, every distribution reduces that unrealized gain you are stuck with. Unfortunately in strong markets these funds just grow more!

I got my final estimates yesterday. One fund was a lot higher, but so far knock on wood, didn’t force me into another IRMAA level.

I just refined my estimates for Vanguard and a few American Funds. Looks like my preliminary estimate of double the 2023 distributions is about right.

Glad to be moving gradually into ETFs where "surprise" gains are less of an issue.

Wow, double!

I have the cap gains estimates for everything, and dividend estimates for everything but the Fidelity funds. For the Fidelity equity funds end of year dividends I used a 7% over last year increase in my calculations. That’s how much stock dividends have increased in 2024 compared to a year ago.

Yea, my $5000 increase mentioned above is also about double what last year's distribution was. That's why it was a bit of a shock. Oh well. Might as well blow the dough on something.

BNY-Mellon (formerly Dreyfus) posted their year-end distribution estimates.

This list at Mutual Fund Observer now looks very complete. By 11/15 most fund families have posted their estimates.

My bold.

I'm with Vanguard too, I can't see on my November month-end statement any projection of total dividends for the year. What am I missing?

Thanks

You are correct.
They used to do that in the past few years but have now stopped.
I'm annoyed but will figure an estimate on my own...

I am too lazy to check all of the 50 funds listed as having the highest capital payouts, but I randomly checked a few of them. The ones I checked all had front loads and/or high expense costs. I wonder if that is just a coincidence. No Fidelity or Vanguard funds made the top 50 list.
It's not a coincidence...

That's a shame. I was already in the process of figuring it out from looking at last year's December distributions. It's guesswork.

Thanks for replying.
