2025 Travel Plans

Early summer weather is very nice there, plus great fresh fruit coming in at farmer’s markets and places like Merciers in Blue Ridge GA.
Went there yesterday. We're staying up the hill outside of town in Epworth. Impressed with the cabin views here.

It’s a beautiful area.

I remember a nice meal at The Copper Grill in McCaysville just north from where you are staying. I remember more fine dining, it looks more casual now.

We’ve been buying apples at Merciers for 50 years and made several trips there last fall. We discovered Evercrisps for the first time! It was also a good excuse for DH to score some fried peach and apple pies.

Cool! I go up there occasionally to visit a cousin and always have to stop by Merciers for fruit. Early summer they have peaches and blueberries.

So far this year, we've gone to Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland and Romania. In a couple of months we're headed off to Indonesia. In December we're going to experience the Christmas holidays with our mothers in Vienna.

Some flights I was tracking to Santo Domingo randomly got cheap recently, so we're headed to the Dominican Republic after Christmas this year!

We're headed to French Saint Martin for some adult no kids time, on home exchange swap. On decent direct JetBlue flights from JFK.

Spending just a small handful of days in Paris this summer, but just read about the David Hockney exhibit that will be there. Just bought my tickets. I was first introduced to Hockney about 35 years ago when I saw a photography exhibit of his at a local college. It will be nice to see much more of his work

Just returned from my trip. The David Hockey exhibit was fantastic. Highly recommend it to anyone who will be in Paris before the end of August. Plan on spending about four hours there if you go.

I'm goofing off in north central Wyoming right now around the Bighorn Mountains. Yesterday I drove west out of Buffalo. I am amazed how beautiful the mountains are. I also looked at some petroglyphs. Today, I'll go to a dinosaur track way and the Medicine Wheel. I'll see what else I can find. Probably multiple small hikes.

Tomorrow I head home. I'll hit some historic site.

Wyoming has no people and so much history and beauty.

Nice!

Booked a trip with DD for Kauai in September.

I’ve been wanting to visit Kauai for a long time. I’ve visited all the other (bigger) islands. Now to figure out the details.

Enjoy!!! We went in 2023, and it was magical!!!

We booked 2 weeks in Spain for early September. Starting in Barcelona, then a day trip up to Montserrat. Then a train to Madrid for a few days. After that a couple of days in Zaragoza, then up to Bilboa for the final days and flying home.

In early August I’m going to meander through Montana and meet up with two guy friends in Banff Provincial Park for adventuring, then make my way back to the Midwest on the Canadian side. I’m looking forward to the 3 weeks.

Will you be near the Basque region? I saw a travel show about it recently and it looked amazing. Have a great trip.

Lot of places to cover. You can spend the whole 2 weeks between Barcelona and Spain alone. Are you taking the AVE between Barcelona and Madrid or will you also drive?

Bilbao is part of the Basque region, along with San Sebastian and a number of smaller coastal cities. But also some villages in the mountains. You can easily spend at least a week up there, also visit Biarritz and Bayonne across the border in France.

Yes, taking the AVE between Barcelona and Madrid, and then again back towards Zaragoza. There we're renting a car for a few days to explore the wine region in La Rioja and dropping it off when we get to Bilboa.

Sounds wonderful! The Basque region is very scenic. I’ve been along the coast and a night in San Sebastian.

Made plans to spend a week on Moonstone Beach, Cambria, CA.
If you know, you know.

Does 2026 plans count here? I just had to pay in full for our Viking River cruise from Budapest to Bucharest in April of 2026. Will be our first river cruise…can’t wait!

We've been adding to our plans. The dog, unfortunately, is no longer a factor....

Jan - NYC 10 days
Feb DH Is doing a cross country road trip to visit family
March - camping Big Bend and Carlsbad Caverns
June - SLO for younger son's graduation
July - road trip to Bellingham WA to see BFF
Late August - North rim of Grand canyon
Mid September Transatlantic cruise to Barcelona, where we fly to Florence for 70 days while I do Italian lessons and hopefully pass the language exam I need to get dual citizenship. (Husband already has dual citizenship)

It's a lot.
Had the North Rim trip cancelled on us due to the fires that burned down the lodge and cabins. We've substituted in Avalon on Catalina Island.
