Loved the 2026 thread - lots of good ideas and suggestions.

Booked January 2027 flights to/from Bogota from our home airport for AA miles plus about $160. Also booked a National Geographic Journeys tour through G Adventures. It's 9 days long and the itinerary includes Bogota, the coffee region, Medellin, and Cartagena. We're flying in a week early and will split the time exploring Bogota and Medellin.

Sounds a lot like our February 2027 trip with VBT, plus adding a Amazon river extension and a few extra days in Bogota.

Just got off our WindStar Rome to Barcelona trip Friday

While on board we booked 12 days in Thailand Feb 2028, and 16 days Tahiti to Lautoka July 2027.

Very nice. Loved our time on the Star Breeze last August and am kicking myself for not booking on board.

That Tahiti cruise looks like a great way to see FP, the Cook Islands, Tonga, and Fiji all in one trip. Interesting... We stayed in AirBnB's for 5 nights on either side of our cruise on Moorea and Tahiti and were very glad we did. Plenty to see and do especially on Moorea. If you haven't been to FP, the scenery and water colors are simply stunning. DW and I did the "Discover Scuba" excursion in Bora Bora. Highly recommend if you're at all interested.

Thanks for the Amazon River mention. We've got extra time before the tour starts and that might work.

Safe Travels.

Reserved Japan including during cherry blossom time. DH and I have been many places in Honshu and Hokkaido including a couple 5 week stays in Tokyo apartments and one of those spanned cherry blossom season. But this is a group tour (never done that to Japan before - always went independent with some for work) with 4 other family members and a couple friends of my niece's friends. I've been to every place on the itinerary but haven't done many of the things this tour will do - Ghibli Museum, Anime themed events, sit in a hot spring bath, stay at a Ryokan (DH did that on a business trip without me), etc.

We have a scuba trip booked for January/February next year. A week at a dive resort (Coral Eye, Bangka Island, North Sulawesi, Indonesia) then 12 days on our favorite liveaboard (Pindito) cruising and diving Raja Ampat, Indonesia. We'll probably extend the trip to some land-based activities either before or after that period to make the most of travelling so far. Last year we toured Australia after our Komodo, Indonesia diving adventures.

We just booked Greece with Tauck in the spring of '27. It's part land , then on Windstar for the rest of the trip. Then that fall we head to South Africa also with Tauck. After Africa we will have hit all 7 continents and after that I would like to chill and do some river cruising in Europe. Oh, and we are taking the adult kids with husband and boyfriend to Costa Rica in Jan. '27.

Was seriously looking at Jordan/Petra/Egypt then stopped looking.

Possibly taking kids and grands to Disneyland for a week. Not a top choice of DH and I, though!
But when a grandkid asks with a beautiful smile and a please, what's Grandma to say?

Our DD and DSIL are Disney fanatics, so she will help me research, plan and schedule if we do decide that is our summer Family trip in 2027.

It's the first time in many years I do not have any travel plan for 2026, let alone 2027. With both my mother and mother-in-law with Alzheimer's, it's hard for us to go anywhere. And I want to treat my adult children to some foreign travel, but the logistics are hard for people still working. Got money for travel, but can't do it. Bummer.

^^^levindb: we budgeted for a June Canadian Rocky rail trip, Vancouver to Calgary. Now that it’s time to make reservations, I’m very hesitant with today’s geopolitical situation. Guess I need to take a break from news.

Why would you be concerned about traveling in Canada?

Not sure how welcome Americans might be right now and a small concern about ICE when returning. Also, really don’t want to do the small talk thing inherent with group tours and hearing lots of geopolitical opinions. Sometimes very strong opinions.

US Embassy in Canada shot up earlier this week, synagogue attacked in Michigan today…

OTOH not sure things will be better anytime soon and we’re not getting any younger and more mobile….

Tentatively planned Japan in winter to ski, possible Greece and Croatia in May and definite Australia, NZ and Patagonia in fall...maybe South Korea somewhere in calendar. Still working on 2026...need a few airline tix and hotel reservations but It's not difficult as I will either be staying with friends or cheaper hotels while in EU-UK.

Thinking of a Road Scholar trip to Japan and a trip to Paris. The Japan trip could slip to 2028.

For those who want to really BTD, Smithsonian Journeys is offering a 29 day trip around the world to seven continents on a private jet:

"You'll step aboard a state-of-the-art Airbus A321, unmatched by any other. Reserved for just 52 guests, with 18 expert staff and crew, the jet sets an unrivaled standard for comfort, featuring full lie-flat Italian leather seats with 6.5 feet of personal space, an onboard chef crafting meals tailored to your preferences, in-flight entertainment, and the ability to fly nonstop between destinations without layovers."

The price starts at $205,000 and the website claims there is currently a waitlist for the trip beginning in late December, 2026, but there is space available for the trip beginning in late December, 2027.

We did a Greek land tour in May 2026 followed by a Windstar cruise on the Star. Great trip. Out of the 150 or so passengers about 1/3 booked through Tauck. Lots of repeat Tauck travelers so they must be doing something right. The Evening in Ephesus dinner and the BBQ on the deck in the Santorini crater were highlights of the trip for sure. Fun fact - the Santorini caldera is so deep that cruise ships can't anchor. They hold their position using propulsion systems.

South Africa was one of our favorite trips. In addition to a safari we stayed in Cape Town for 4 nights. Beautiful city and plenty to see and do.

Safe travels.

Thanks for your comments we love traveling with Tauck, really looking forward to our upcoming trips and Greece sounds awesome. We leave in a week for Japan with Tauck.
