Listen to Cindy Blackman, who plays drums for her husband, Carlos Santana. She is 64 to his 78. I also think she is the drummer for the Monday Night Footbal theme intro. When we saw her in November, I thought she was in her early 30s.

I "played" the drums when my son took lesson years ago. It was part of the deal when we bought the Pearl drum set.

Our favorite is a drum duet featured in The Edgar Winter Groups’s Frankenstein. Edgar Winter himself is playing the timbales alongside his drummer. Starts at about the 2 minute mark.

There are a few really good videos out there showing Lars Ulrich from Metallica on their 1991-1992 tour where he and James Hetfield have a fun drum-off challenge. I got to see it live in Green Bay on November 12th, 1991.

This one is pretty hard to top. Saw him do this live, with the 360-degree drum set rotating on stage. In the middle of the solo Neil would toss the sticks up in the air and catch them like it was nothing. Freaking amazing. Made my skin crawl. Still sends a chill up my spine just thinking about it.

Wow. She's good! And I imagine she probably did it without the aid of all the, uh, pharmaceuticals that Iron Butterfly were on when recording the original.
