Although the house is not officially done, we have spent a couple different nights sleeping out here. We decided that we have had enough of living in a camper, 7 years, 2 month and 28 days.
So we moved a few essential items out here and moved in to our almost finished mostly new home.... How do we celebrate this wonderful occasion:confused:?
We leave in the morning for a 10 day camping trip.....

That is great! So, when do you figure you will be moving to new home for good?

Basically we already have.... Unless the building inspector drops in and tells us we can't stay in it. The biggest issue is electricity. The house is wired but needs the final inspection before they will run the power to the meter base. What I have done is run a line from the temporary pole and back feeding the house panel, so all we have is 50 Amps of power. You have to actively think about what power your using. Cant use the range, Have to turn off the water heater to use the dryer, can't run the washer or dryer at the same time. ECT... Wood insert is our only heat source, But have Mini split in the works, required before final. Hoping to get upper kitchen cabinets hung today.

Don't I wish.... this has been a self fix.... thankfully had tons of friends jump in to help after my accident.

Daughter, her husband and their brood of 4 boys lived in a camper for 2 years while their house was being built. I can't imagine it myself but they seemed to thrive.

Hope your house is finished soon. You deserve a break this coming year.

Happy New Year.

Invest around $120.- in a countertop induction stove. 120VAC. I use a Duxtop at my camp which only has solar panels for power. The thing is a champ, Only use cast iron or ferrous based cookware. I also have one at home, often use it instead of resistive electric stove.

We already have an electric countertop burner that we pulled in from the camper... and have tons of cast iron. The electric range is just a temp for inspection purposes. We have a Gas cook top to add after final inspection and going to get an electric convection oven.
