I have been looking for any news on discussion/legislation extending the PTC cliff that expires after 2025, but my search-fu has come up empty.

Is anyone aware of any chatter on this subject?

Chatter will be meaningless until after November.

You're right. It just disappoints me that it doesn't even seem to be on the (internet) radar.

Depending on the results of the election, the ACA may not even exist in 2026. No more cliff, you'll just start at the bottom of the canyon and climb out on your own. And I doubt there will be any discussion until early 2025, after the new group of "servants" is sworn in, regardless of who wins what.

Well, we can't discuss politics.

My prediction is no politician wants to hear from constituents that went just a few $ over a cliff and lost thousands in premium credits so it will be extended.

My spouse is subject to the Social Security GPO and WEP provisions, which will cost them potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars if they live long enough. Trust me, the politicians do not care.

If ACA goes away and nothing replaces it, our backup plan is DW's retiree medical insurance from megacorp. This was a major factor in providing us confidence to FIRE.
