Anyone else Worried About Canceled Europe Flights?

The uncrowded flights are the ones most likely to get cancelled.

I do not expect an issue on my transatlantic flights. My KMMalta flight looks very full. My RyanAir is a short hop but lots of flights so should have options if they cancel.

Anyone else worried like myself about airlines canceling flights in Europe over the lack of jet fuel because of the war? Noticed tonight that Lufthansa Airlines is canceling 20k flights over the summer because of it. Unfortunately I have a Milan to Frankfurt flight on Lufthansa on our way home to SFO next month. If things get crazy with canceled flights I wonder who pays for all the costs I've already laid out such as hotels. Me I'm sure.

I'm a part time travel agent and you are not alone in your worry. Many clients are voicing concerns. It's a good reason to have travel insurance. We have trip cancellation and interruption through our chase sapphire reserve credit card. But do your homework if you decide to buy a policy. Our Canadian travel agents are being told that their travel insurance does not cover flights cancelled due to fuel shortages because that is now considered a known event. Frustrating!

I have a flight to Barcelona in 3 weeks, but then get on a cruise. So no flights within Europe, so not concerned as of now.

No. Of all the things to spend mental energy on, jet fuel availability a month into the future is not something that deserves any of it. Especially since there's nothing you can do about it now, and even if you did, it will probably change by then.

I didn't read all the answers, but I have no control about whether my flights in late August will be cancelled, so worrying about it would be a waste of time.

Flying to Scotland in September. Then travel by rail. Hoping long haul flights will be a priority. Yes worried but fingers crossed

Flight with DW to the UK and back in Aug, to catch a Clapton concert at Sandringham House...first time overseas in decades. Nothing we can do to control anything, but we are only booking items that we can get fully refunded. Of course we'll still be PO'ed if the flight is cancelled...only so many more concerts that Clapton's going to put on...

Flying DC to London in August, then back 2 1/2 weeks later. Yes, I'm worried about it. Not so worried that I didn't make the booking (the cost went up about 30% over 2 months that I watched, until I booked a week ago). But the worry is there.

And I reviewed the insurance terms on my Sapphire Reserve card and I'm not convinced that a cancelled flight under these conditions will be covered. Or the cruise, the reason we are flying. So that worry is there, too.

I only booked "cancelable" accommodations. If flight cancelled that money will be refunded. My other legs I might have to rebook or cancel but funds still should be usable.

Not sure I have a lot to lose really and certainly not worrying.

What is to worry about? Loss of a few hundred bucks? Negligible to us and probably to most here. A year of inflation will hurt more.

We will be flying out to Europe next week. Airline asked us to pre-order meals. So far so good. We will have 5 intracontinental flights in Europe in the following weeks before re-crossing the pond home (and I think things will work out fine for us). Good luck to us and good luck to all who will be travelling soon.

FWIW we didn’t encounter any canceled flights in May or early June. Had a flight Netherlands to England mid May and a flight Scotland to England early June. No problem with US-based international flights either.
