Hi folks: I've been retired for 14 years now. Took the plunge in 2008 at age 56 (not the best planning, I know, but things worked out). I used to read these fora every day, but just got away from them in recent years. It's always interesting to get other people's take on investing, asset allocations, etc. At some point, I may even offer some thoughts, since I've got this retirement thing down pretty well.

Good to hear things are working out. I retired in March 08 at 57, got interesting watching the market dive. But didn’t sell and things worked for me too.

Welcome. Let us know how it's been going. We love success stories.

Welcome back! Tell us what it was like to go through 2008 as a new retiree.

Yeah, you must have been thinking "I should NEVER have listened to those crazy folks over at ER.org. What have they gotten me into?" YMMV

I too retired in 2008--as did all the 55's and older with my MegaCorp. Best thing to ever happen to us.

Fortunately, I've not had to draw any of my 401K, and I'm much better off than 13 years ago. I'm facing RMD's this year, and am having to reevaluate my income tax situation.

Glad you're back with us.

Welcome back. Would love other what you've been up too.
