BCBS lawsuit settlement postcard.

This virtual Visa debit card is going to be a PITA to use. I don't have Apple Wallet or Google Pay. I was hoping I could simply enter the 16-digit card number into a keypad at some POS terminal. I rarely buy things on line, so I hope I can use it before it starts eroding. If I knew this beforehand, I would have requested a paper check. Grrrrr.

If you have an Amazon account it's easy to add the amount as a gift card that will go toward future purchases, instructions have been discussed in this thread.

I got a check!! over $100 so it is nice... not sure if DW is supposed to get one or this is for both of us..

Check arrived yesterday, $12.72 Time to BTD!

~$185 check arrived two days ago. Probably because I had the insurance through work for 9 years plus a number of years on the ACA. I'll be depositing it remotely today. DH was on my insurance so no money for him.

LOL, I got $10.78, can't even get a happy meal for that!
Here you can!!!

Well, maybe not... I am talking Whataburger... I get a hamburger, large onion rings and a senior drink for $10.26.. kids meals are less...

Paper check for $18.01 for 'initial something'. That'll cover a 6 pack of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA with a few bucks to spare. Yes, MBTD !

Yea... I just read the letter with the check and it say initial payment... so maybe we will get some more:confused:

I used mine to add funds to my Amazon Gift Card. Just added it to my Amazon account like any new credit card, made it the primary credit card for my Amazon account, then purchased a gift card for the amount of the BCBS gift card, only took a minute to go through.
I tried this and it didn't work for me. It rejected the virtual debit card as a method of payment. When I resubmitted it, they canceled the order. This it turning into a growing PITA to use the money. How come this works for you but not for me (and someone else, too)?

I called the CS dept for the card and they will send me a physical card I will more easily be able to use than this virtual one. I just have to remember to have the store clerk run it as credit, not debit.

Not sure why it didn't work, I've done the same thing multiple times with I've received other similar cards. Maybe login to your virtual card and check if there are any transactions listed against the card. The only thing I can think of why it would not be accepted is if the Amazon gift card order being placed is more than the amount remaining on the virtual card.

When I called the CS line, I also checked the balance. It was unchanged from the original settlement amount and was the amount I first tried in Amazon (I later used a slightly lower amount for the Amazon gift card purchase attempt which also failed). The CS rep also told me I can't use the virtual card to buy a gift card, making me wonder more how you were able to do that. Maybe other virtual cards allow you to use the money to buy a gift card. IMHO you have led a charmed life being able to convert those virtual cards the way you want to.

I had no problem applying to Amazon. What you need to do is buy/top up an Amazon gift card in your account for the exact amount of the virtual Visa card. When you check-out, you enter the debit card number and it should accept without problem.

I am surprised how many got gift cards... I hate gift cards of money as I have always had a problem emptying them... if I buy something large and try and use my card it rejects it.. if I buy something less than the card there is money left on the card which I cannot get..

Which is why I got a check and deposited it in my bank account.. easy peasy...

This is what I did. I added the debit card to the list of credit cards I already had on file with Amazon. No problem. But when I tried to buy an Amazon gift card for the exact amount of the debit card's value, the payment got rejected. Once again, this stuff works for others but not for me (and others). At least I will soon get a physical card I can use at a POS terminal. That had better work for me.
