Blow That Dough 2026

Got back late Thursday night from England and hiking the Coast to Coast (and flying first-class). Well worth the BTD (it's a 22 hour trip from Manchester to Reno)--if one can afford it. Since we bought the airline tickets, the price went up 50%, so we lucked out buying early.

Came back to find out the "temporary fix" bolts I put in 7 years ago to repair the garage door lift connection popped out Tuesday before we came back, and the 2nd row of panels bent when our son tried to lift the door, so there is $3500 more in BTD, but not nearly as fun as England. We spent an extra $500 on a row of garage door windows since the HOA might object to a windowless garage door.

Have fun in Poland, Terry!

Having fun with a six speed manual Toyota GR86 I recently bought. IMG_3960.jpeg

Must be a nimble ride. Manual too! Between the Toyota and Miata, not sure which one I would get if I were to get one.

That looks fun! Wow - I haven't driven manual in a few years , but I loved my 911 with manual. Although I did get into a little trouble with that beast.

We’ve been traveling with Country Walkers and The Good Life Abroad a few times a year for a while now, and are booked through 2027 for more trips.

Our portfolio continues to grow.

In April, I got an allocation for a Porsche, configured the car, paid the deposit, and have been tracking movement on the allocation on their app. My Macan 4 EV goes into production in two days. Very exciting. I should have her by the end of July.

Wow!! Isn't it great just to be able to go out and buy really what ever we want. Very nice BTD!

We’ve done a few Country Walker trips. Good tour company.

Very nice. What is the color on your car? I struggle in actually "naming" colors these days (I DO like that color).

Aventurine Green Metallic. As I am officially blowing up our "stealth wealth" image, I don't want anything too flashy.

On the low end, but I bought a pair of HOKA shoes for $175 which is a big splurge for the $25 Costco whatever athletic shoe is in stock buyer. I have heard good things about them, and I really like them so far. Very comfortable and my achilles feels better.

In 2016 I signed up to get on the waiting list for a highly allocated wine. Every year I got an email from the winery saying sorry, no soup for you. Too many members, not enough wine. Today that changed. I will get an offer this year. $228/bottle. I was going to say no, but after all these years…it’s only money.

I'm in a different sector. I like me some white wine, often a Pinot Grigio, but $12 for a 1.5l at Total Wine seems to suit me fine.
😃

I’ve learned that there are likely less than 1% - 2% of the people in the US that get my hobby. I am OK with that.
A college buddy belongs to a club that buys antique wines then gets together to drink them. But even back in college he and a few others always would sign up for wine tasting classes through Extension, because students would get one free class per year back then. I was too young to sign up, and that perk went away once I was finally old enough.

Yeah, It's hard to call required maintenance BTD, especially when you are DIY.
