Evidently all the best known Bogleheads and others gathered recently, and they've just dropped a slew of YouTube videos. Some of the heavy hitters include Rick Ferri, William Bernstein, Mike Piper, Christine Benz, Bill Bengen, Paul Merriman and a dozen others.I watched
  • Roth Conversion Deep Dive
  • Ask Us Anything Experts Panel
- and they were excellent.

Other more retirement oriented videos include
  • Decision to Retire,
  • Estate Planning,
  • Asset Protection,
  • History of Safe Withdrawal Rates,
  • Retirement Spending Deep Dive,
  • Does Crypto Merit A Place In Your Portfolio,
  • Budgeting and Learning to Save,
  • the Tax Efficient Waterfall
plus at least a dozen more.

Here's the channel link so you can choose those of interest, and one direct link to a video.

Thanks for sharing, Midpack. I can see I'll have lots to do in the next few days. Looks exciting. :flowers:

I was coincidentally in Minneapolis as part of my RoadTrip 24 during the last day of this year's BH conference.
But I had other things already planned (a Twins game) so the conference didn't fit.
I have been to a few in years gone by...

The videos popped up for me too in YT.

The Roth Conversion Deep Dive by Mike Piper was exceptional -- the best I've seen/read on the topic. He never fails to impress.

Also saw When Should a DIY Investor Quit DIYing and found that one harder to recommend.

Agreed for this audience mostly. But unfortunately there are some folks who are better off paying an advisor despite the fees that are unnecessary to many here. People who have money to invest - but don't know anything about investing and listen to hot tips, panic sell in downturns, invest way too aggressively/conservatively, etc. That said, finding a great advisor is difficult - 'by the time you know enough to choose a good advisor, you don't need one.'

The Roth Conversion Deep Dive by Mike Piper also popped up for me in you tube and I watched it this morning.

I wonder if that was triggered by me watching the Rob Berger podcast posted by @Midpack on Boldin vs. Pralana.

I was going to post this video separately regarding withdrawal rates since it has been subject of some the threads I have been participating in. Looks like it should be added to this thread.
William Bengen, Karsten Jeske and Christine Benz answer questions about their ideas regarding sustainable spending in retirement. Good conversation between them with lots of ideas and concepts of plans. It sounds like lot of researching going on but in the end its still all speculation. Trying to predict the future is hard...LOL

Bogleheads® Conference 2024 Withdrawal Rate Rumble with Bengen, Jeske and Benz

Chapters:
0:00 Introduction
1:41 Review of panelist research on sustainable spending in retirement
8:58 Variable spending over one’s lifetime (spending smile)
18:40 Distribution rates when Social Security retirement income kicks in
21:25 Karsten vs. Bengen distribution rates
25:45 Asset classes used in sustainable spending rate research

Are you referencing the video where Rob compares and questions the accuracy of the retirement planning software? I hope he follows up and gets some answers. We use Boldin and now I am slightly concerned about its accuracy.

Thanks for posting. I don't go to you tube often, but saved the link.
I will be spending some time watching!

Thanks for mentioning the ROTH video. It was in my feed but I was going to skip it. I just watched it and it was interesting. He raised several points I had not considered. Especially not having heirs and maybe leaving IRA to charity.

Yes. I have to admit it left me wanting to wait for more feedback from users.
