Breast cancer

May your Surgical team work with gentle yet thorough hands and may you have a speedy recovery!
Blessings to you, I will be sending healing thoughts your way come Friday.

My surgeon had a cancellation, so it looks like she can do my mastectomy on Friday! It will be so nice to have that cancer gone or mostly gone. I'm having zero second thoughts about this, which makes it easy to go ahead with it.

I will probably be writing less, depending on the level of pain. But if I don't write, then just imagine my smiling face looking forward to a potentially longer lifespan.
W2R, I had a mastectomy. It's easier than you might think. The drain tubes are a pain, but they're removed within a week or so. I did not take any painkillers, was not needed. My surgeon did have me exercising the arm almost immediately when I woke up. You do not want frozen shoulder! If they're taking lymph nodes, you'll have to be aware of lymphedema. A swelling that can be painful. Google it. I never got lymphedema, had the surgery in 2011. Hope all the best for you!

Wow, no painkillers in your case? That is so encouraging! Even if I do need them, it does sound like it could be easier than I was thinking.

Thankfully, it usually is not as bad as we think it will be. DW took a pain med for the first day and some Tylenol after that for a few days. The most important thing after most any surgery is to do all you can (all they tell you) to avoid infection. I’m sure you’ll do well.

This is wonderful news. You've gotten some great advice from the ladies who've been through this.

I'll be thinking if you on Friday sending out positive thoughts!

If you do end up using pain killers, remember they tend to cause constipation in a lot of folks. Also, anesthesia can have the same effect. Plan on fiber intake or something to get things moving after surgery.

Just catching wind of this now, somehow. Wishing you the best with your procedure and subsequent recovery, W2R

Thinking of you today, W2R.

You have been in my thoughts today. It is evening now and so glad the procedure is behind you. Sending love and healing thoughts.

Thinking of you and hope surgery went well.
Allow yourself time to rest and recover and take pain medication as needed, you don't want your body fighting pain as it is trying to heal.
Short term narcotics are warranted for surgery and recovery. Also take stool softeners or prunes to offset constipation :)
Let Frank continue to spoil you!
Take care.
