Can anyone beat this completely stupid level of frugality???

Funny to me...
I read this thread and then went to put on my boots to get some work done in the yard.
These are eight inch boots that cost over $600 now.
The 72" leather laces are broken and tied back together in two places on one boot.
Yes, I have a new set on hand, but these are still working. Now so will I.

Waste not, want not! (y)

Re: Toilet paper - waste not AND use enough to do the job properly!

Waste! I am still quite able to invert and balance one hotel shampoo container on top of the next in line - trick is to lean it against the shower window wall.
Hello, long lost brother. :greetings10: Do you also invert ketchup and mustard bottles in the fridge?

Don't the other members notice their soap is missing ? :hide:
No. I get it before it's put into use.

I debated attaching a photo to display proof, but chose to delete it. Some would find it funny, others wouldn't.

If anybody visiting Southern California wants to stop by and see my inventory, send me a message. I'll let you take home a couple souvenirs. I can get more.

Love this thread. My "claim to fame" in this area was when I pulled a shoulder muscle shaking the shampoo bottle up and down vigorously try to get the last drop of liquid from a $15 bottle!

$15.00 for shampoo? My bottle of Alberto VO5 is $1.26 at Walmart.

I'm frugal with some things and spend on others, although I want to get value for my money. I absolutely, positively don't like what I consider waste and squeeze toothpaste and get every drop out of containers / jars.

I cannot do Alberto VO5.

I bought Heads and Shoulders in big bottles at Costco, no matter how much it costs. My scalp needs it.

I may have posted this before but when I am done brushing my teeth I spit out the foamy junk into the far corner of my bathroom sink and let it dry. Then I scrape the dried spit residue off the bowl of my sink and save it in a jar. Later, after I've built up enough stuff, I form it into small mints that I serve to guests.

Doesn't everyone economize in this manner?

If it makes the OP (and others feel better), you can justify these as being more ecological, because you would reduce waste/consumption and would need to clean up/rise the bottle before putting it into the recycling bin. (people also take these to refilling stores --- or use large refill containers. we do the later, but out of economy).

Speaking of hotel shampoos, we have been guilty in the past, especially if we like the house product. But the strangest behavior is to pack away the little amenities kit you get in a business class seat (mostly for the small sample sized versions of products and sometimes the case is really useful).

I'm probably hijacking my own thread, but I burn my trash in a hole I dug in the ground instead of recycling.

I have a box of those cheap gloves I use for oil changes. I have one by the toilet so I can use both side of the toilet paper.

We flew business class for the first time, and economy on Turkish airlines. Both gave us a little bag of amenities. Naturally we took them and now have 4 at home.
Probably will give to the grandkids as I already have 3 shaving bags.

A frugal friend of mine use to brag about buying 2-ply TP, then "separating" it at time of use. I only half think that he was joking.

I am a Thrift store shopper. I take in stuff no longer needed; then I shop around. Never did it until my Son's took us out to the shops during their HS years.

Anyone else, when one can not squeeze more out of the top, just cut off the bottom of the tube and squeeze out the bottom for another brush or two?
Exactly what I do. (Well not exactly - I just use my toothbrush to clean out the inside of the tube). It's simple enough and you don't need to buy one of those crazy contraptions that try to squeeze the tubes. Just use a clip on the end to keep it moist. If you get near the bottom, just cut off part of the tube no longer needed, and you can easily reach the remaining paste. I usually get a week extra using this method.

Some of you know we have been building a $1.5M house (with cash). We have officially moved in and I went around to all the built in soap dispensers and filled them up a couple of days ago. I had a few drops left in the bottles and did my best to consolidate them. When I did, I spilled some soap down the side and it dripped onto the marble counters. I caught myself leaving these soap drippings on the counter and washing my hands by getting them wet and wiping them on the counter. I also added water to the bottles so I could get the last few drops out.

What the hell is wrong with me?

A couple of weeks ago I spilled a bowl of milk on the dining table. After washing my hands, I used them to push as much of the spilled milk back into the bowl as I could, so that I could have it with my morning cereal.

So, no, I don't think your level of frugality was stupid. Mine was
