I'm taking a cruise on Celebrity on May 31. I see they have a credit card with a bonus offer worth $300 of onboard credit, so I'm thinking about opening the card for that.
it requires you spend $1000 within 90 days (not an issue). My question is will I get the points in time for a May 31 cruise?
The terms and Conditions specify: Bonus points are credited to your account approximately 1-2 billing cycles after you qualify does that mean after I spend $1000? after that billing statement? sounds like I'm cutting it very very close

Read the fine print - word for word. Hope it w*rks out for you.

Some cards do it pretty quick, as soon as your billable charges hit, others wait until the closing cycle following payment, no one here can tell you for sure. If you can find the definition of "qualify" in the Terms, that might give more clarity.

Are you aware of something I'm missing? the quote is above *is* from the fine print
Okay, if you read the fine print and you're not sure what it means, maybe call the company and ask. I wouldn't pretend to know. Good luck.

This might be a good case for Doctor of Credit. Many posters provide details of their experience with credit cards.

It depends. I've had the credit as soon as I met the spending requirements. One of our cards currently has a promo, BUT the credit won't hit until until 1 or 2 billing cycles AFTER the promo ends...in this case 3/31. I expect the credit sometime in May.

Oh well I took a chance and opened the card, they gave me a ridiculously high credit limit, so my total credit utilization will look even smaller. It's a no annual fee credit card, I will make sure it is set up for autopay so there is no risk to forget about it, and it looks like I can freeze it from the BoA app for additional security once I get the sign up bonus.

I got one from a different bank and cruise line. It was advertised as an on board credit but I just used it as a statement credit. The cruise line wants you to use it on board but you may not have to.

I'll see if it's a possibility to do statement credit if the onboard credit doesn't come through in time, but we're signing up specifically to use this as "found money" for onboard amenities (we went inside cabin/no packages on this cruise as it's a tack-on to an unplanned vacation). It'll be good to know we don't have to make ourselves drink trough $300 on onboard credit :)
