I'd have to assume it's some sort of biological imperitive to ensure the survival of the species. A baby would never have been able to fend for themselves in the wild whereas, if they weren't too Emo, a teen would.
In other words, from an evolutionary standpoint, you just can't help yourself.
Thank you , I was crazy about him from the first ultrasound picture .Moemg, your grandson is adorable.
Put me down in the category of loving to hold babies. I think that they are truly little miracles. My daughter had her first ultrasound today and I was amazed watching my first grandchild moving around and seeing her heart beating. I can't wait until she makes her arrival sometime around the middle of July.
Don't prospective parents look around and see what happens to kids as they get older? Don't they see what's going on in their own extended families, or how their own lives were when they were younger? Maybe they're just in denial. What else would explain their unpreparedness or inability of so many (most?) people to cope with their children as they grow out of infancy and childhood?
Between babies and small animals (no matter what kind), I will take babies. At least they grow up and learn to take care of themselves! Had 3 myself.
Why is it that so many people (especially women) just love babies? But when was the last time that you heard someone say that they just love teen-agers?
BTW this post is not a slam against teens. I recall very well how miserable life can be at that age, but people don't seem to realize that today's cute baby is tomorrow's adolescent.
Speaking of which, I am pretty sure I would never have been born if my grandmother had access to any form of birth control so I know I come by the lack of maternal instinct naturally (mother had me to make up for her own rotten childhood and lack of love).
There's no owner's manual for kids, instinct is learned.......
I do believe that having children has delayed FIRE by at least 10 years, but i would not trade them for all the money in the world........
My family is VERY SMALL. If I would not have had sons, our family name would have been lost after my generation.........![]()
People have told me all my life about their kids...."I wouldn't take a million dollars for the ones I have, but I wouldn't give a nickel for another one!"I do believe that having children has delayed FIRE by at least 10 years, but i would not trade them for all the money in the world........![]()
As far as having kids, I believe that most all of us rationalize whatever happened (kids, no kids) as being the best. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
