Coins My Dad Gave Me

Wow!!!
That is awesome and thanks.

I have one of those, it is in a folder with a note from from President Nixon! I imagine he got it from an ad in Parade... Anyway I should give it to my son, he has some coins... I like things like wooden nickels, I have a heads I win, tails you lose coin around somewhere... The kind of stuff guys used to have in the nightstand drawer, along with the night-guard, a flashlight, a little bottle of Tylenol, some nasty old cough drops that are hard to unwrap... But i digress... That exact coin with the folder is going for $232 on ebay with 30 bids. But I'm not selling. It means a lot to me.

Hmmm, DW used to save silver coins when she worked as a teller many years ago. Anything with silver. She has a sack of them in our safe. Guess one day I'll have to go through them. Just haven't been that bored yet.
Every few years, I still find a "war nickel" (minted '42 though '45.) They were minted without nickel and had 35% silver in them. They're not particularly collectable except in mint condition but they are worth close to $1.70 for silver content though a dealer would give you a lot less due to the "bother" of having it melted (or reselling it.)

If it was cleaned it must have been cleaned 40 years ago. I never cleaned the coin a bag of about 25 was in my dad dresser draw for years and one time when I was home, we said I should take them. They been in the house vault in the same bag for that many years.

Interesting!!! Thank You Car-Guy!!!
You could also bury it in the backyard for a couple of years and that might age it to where it needs to be.
