Last year I discovered the hard way that Covered California does not handle the case of different family members on different plans, and premium assistance.

I got around it by fudging my income higher, and paying full freight on the premiums, with the expectation I'll get the tax credits back when I file my taxes for 2015.

I had several talks with the help desk folks at Covered CA. They assured me it was supposed to have been fixed in the software for 2015 enrollment (in 2014) but the developers hadn't gotten it in.

I tried updating my income before renewing this year... totally hosed up my application... but confirmed that they have not fixed this problem.

So it looks like I'll be paying full premiums again in 2016 - but at least I'll have the tax refund from 2015 taxes to help ease the pain.

At one point last year Covered CA had me simultaneously enrolled in three different health plans, including Medi-Cal (i.e. Medicaid), for which I didn't qualify.
