Day of Colonoscopy Prep?

I am taking 4 pills followed an hour later by the MiraLax/Gatorade drink which is 8oz every 15 minutes for 2 hours. I'm not concerned about the actual drink, just concerned about the timing of being on the toilet and if I can be confident I won't have to go anymore after leaving the house 3.5 hours after finishing the last of the drink.
If your last liquid intake is 3.5 hours before you leave for your appt, you should be fine on your brief transport to the facility. Once there, there will be bathrooms as needed, but I think you will be ok.
Most everything will leave your lower intestines in those 3.5 hours at home, believe me.

I think my intestines were done well before the 3.5 hour mark, but it's been about five years since my last colonoscopy.

Again, your doctor has probably done hundreds or thousands of these procedures. They've allowed enough time. Worst case, if your body is somehow a six-sigma outlier, then I bet you just reschedule and the allow you five hours next time.

I'm not sure how you all get such good naps. I woke up in one of them. . . I could see a lot of pink on the screen but I didn't feel pain.

I'm a smallish person too - BMI 19 so not like giving a teaspoon to an elephant . . . maybe everyone get same dose IDK.

Anesthesia is probably dosed based on your body mass (not BMI). I'd ask the anesthetist what went wrong. If your body responds unusually to anesthesia that's something you want to know for any future surgeries.

If you're concerned in any way about having an accident simply buy a pack of adult diapers and wear them to your appointment, you'll be fine and it's cheap insurance. I've always done that overnight when prepping the day before, better to be safe than sorry and I can get a sound sleep without laying awake all night worrying. In the morning I usually still need to make a couple of bathroom trips before I leave for my appointment. I've done many of these over the years and at my last one I could hear the doctor telling two people that were already prepped and in pre-op area that they needed to reschedule since they were still not cleaned out entirely, what a bummer.

I would rather have my colon completely cleaned out the previous night. The earlier you start the prep, the sooner you are done. For my last colonoscopy, the instruction was to drink the second half in the morning. By then, the solution was cold and salty. It tasted much more nastier. I just couldn’t drink it all.

I didn't have a single issue with a fart or "leakage".
A buddy of mine on the fire department didn't take my advice. After a big fire call one night call we had to wash him off when we got back to the fire hall. Just a friendly warning.

I think the big difference in my 2 preps was that first one did not have dietary restrictions while the second one had dietary restrictions starting from 7 days before. I was cleaned out after a couple of purges after drinking the prep and taking ducolax. I did go to the bathroom a few more times but I simply passed out clear (gatorade) liquid. Restricting diet made a world of difference.

They gave me Propofol for my last colonoscopy and it was truly the best sleep I ever had in my life. I woke up feeling like a million bucks and I can see how Michael Jackson was addicted to it. Of course if I'd known in advance that was what they were giving me I probably would have refused it. It was truly amazing, I felt so refreshed when I woke up, I was starving and my daughter said I've never talked as much as I did that day.

That is what I had. I found it unremarkable. Just kind of a non-event.

I recall needing a higher dose of some local thing 20+years ago too though I don't know what it was back then. . . but even though I didn't wake up this time it wasn't anything I'd care to do for "fun" med wise.

I don't seem to react much to stuff like perococet either. Not that probably anyone gives that out anymore? But I thought it worthless and didn't help with pain or give me any buzz. I threw it out after trying a couple.

I have no danger of becoming a drug addict LOL. I think M&Ms would have been more useful if I'd had any.

I started my prep at 4 pm for a morning exam the next day. I didn’t get done with the bathroom until 2am. I felt like I had the best sleep after I woke up from the procedure.

I didn't eat for three days prior - then took the dose as a single, which was an option - and still had - issues.😡
Likewise.

For my time before, they said "poor" prep but proceeded. So most recent, I quit eating early. I took THREE preps (one full extra the day before) and then two on THEIR schedule. The conclusion? Poor prep. Darn!

I mention this only to suggest doing it in two stages and not one. You get a better feel for whether it's w*rking or not. If one prep doesn't w*rk, then you could be out of luck.

Please. No nasty cracks about Ko'olau being full of it.

The way anesthesia for this works (nowadays) with Propofol, is it's basically constant and ends as soon as they stop administering it. It doesn't "wear off" it just gets stopped/unplugged. They stop it as they are wheeling you out and you wake up almost immediately.

Don't worry, you probably won't go back to bed once it starts. Have a good book to read while you're sitting. Better than running back and forth.
Funny story about my last scope. While in the procedure room waiting on the doctor and listening to the nurses chatting another young nurse rushed in. She said "yall can't believe what just happened! During the scope the patient cr*pped on my glove and without thinking I wiped my face with it. I had to go take a shower. They all started laughing. When she saw me laughing she ran out of the room embarrased. My last words to the nurses as they were putting me under were "excuse me if I cr*ap on anyone."

They should have let me drive home. I was fine. Many people put off this stuff because they don't have a ride (and uber not allowed).

I knew a guy who had colon cancer. The prep is a walk in the park compared to what he has to do on a daily basis.

Yeah, that's going to be a problem for me. This is the only time my Mom will be able to drive me if my next one is in 10 years. I have no one else that would do it. I have to either take my chances or spend money on a home nurse/personal assistant for the day. That would be a big expense for me. I would rather just drive myself there and then stay in the waiting room for a few hours then drive the 5 miles back home.

Your ride doesn't have to be a family member, can be a neighbor, just not someone you hailed on an app like uber or a taxi.

to the OP, I wouldn't try to force the issue. let the prep medicine work as its supposed to work.
