So this weekend we get back that loan of one hour we made back in April. No interest or fees, just a devalued hour.
Still, for all of us Luddites still using analog clocks with hands, and the few with digital clocks thst don’t automatically reset, don’t forget to change the hour sometime between late Saturday and early Sunday.

Mornings will be brighter (for a while) and darkness will come earlier. Such is life.

As someone who is still working, I absolutely hate this time of the year. Dark when you get home. Would rather have an extra hour of darkness in the morning when it doesn't matter. Seasonal depression is a real thing.

I look forward to being able to just move my schedule an hour earlier in retirement.

All I can say is I hate DST I'm just glad I live in a warmer area as DST in the cold climates really sucked as I lived in it for 45 years and really gets depressing in Jan and Feb when temps don't get much above freezing and it really stinks to go outside as very little sunny days. and I will always take daytime over nighttime now that I'm retired

I hated for the same reasons when I was working.
Being retired makes it a little better but I still don’t like it getting dark in the early evening.
Right now it’s after 4:30, about 80° with the sun shining and about 1.5 hours of daylight left.
Next week it will be getting dark at this time.

The DST never affected me much. It would be lighter longer in the evening, but my sleep was never affected. I slept the same, either way.

We just set our clocks to awaken1/2 hour before sunrise as usual. It doesn’t feel or look any different!

Our day continues the same. We ignore the clock as we aren’t tied to any schedule or TV programming.

Just do things at the new 3:30 that you were previously doing at 4:30. It’s the same!

It will be somewhat of a sad time change this weekend. For the first time since 1984, we will go back to Daylight Standard time without any pets in the household.

We lost all three of our cats (18, 17, and 13) in May/June of this year. Usually, the "extra" hour on Sunday gets negated by our cats waking me up for them to be fed at their usual time in the early morning.

I think I am going to miss having the early wake-up.

I can't even imagine the enormity of such a loss in such a short span of time. My sincere condolences. 💔

One of my two cats will definitely be hollering for his breakfast at the usual time, while his brother is very laid back and just goes with the flow. Truth be told, I would miss the hollering if it ceased.

I always hated this time of the year. I worked 7-7 rotating shifts... Days sucked, dark when you left and after you got home.... Nights was far worse.... would go 3-4 days without seeing hardly any daylight at all...

you mean like an old person? 😆
It doesn’t matter. I’m retired and can eat when I want. We generally eat a very late breakfast and a mid to late afternoon “lunch” (main meal), skip dinner or have a very light snack. We don’t eat according to a clock but when we’re hungry. So daylight savings time changes don’t disrupt our mealtimes or our evening plans.

The problem arises when someone does something at X o’clock every day. Then they get to suffer the time change.

That problem is from living too far north. There are other problems living too far south, but at least we have a min of 10.5 hours of sunlight daily. It only swings from 10.5 to almost 14 hours of daylight.

My body clock wakes me up around 5am. So, I'll be up around 4am for a couple days, until I reset.

If we could fix the way the earth tilts, we wouldn't have this problem.

Just to clarify-I was calling myself an old person in my reply-not you!

Not a problem at all. I am technically an old person.

I think that retired people annoyed with daylight savings time changes just need to reframe the issue in their minds. Why exactly do you have to live by a clock?

While working, going to work and coming home in the dark was a pain. Only saw the daytime occasionally through a window. I had many offices with no window!
It doesn't bother me as much since retirement, however, I still wish there was not changing at all. Chose standard time or daylight savings time and just keep it there.

Ha! I personally don't. That's why I want it lighter out later in the day and not in those ridiculously early morning hours that I no longer have to get up at.

We eat dinner at 4:30. Our kids would really protest if we started eating at 3:30. They wouldn't even be home from school yet. Our DD1 has stopped eating dinner with us because she says 4:30 is too early. DD2 is always hungry, so she is fine with first dinner at 4:30 and second dinner later.
