First world problem, I know, but I am having a dilemma with my iPad accessories.

I recently got an Apple Pencil. It is a great addition for me because I have been using my iPad for taking notes and journaling. The Apple Pencil is a great alternative to typing.

To help with writing with the Apple Pencil, I first got an Ahastyle silicone sleeve. But, it did not make writing easier nor will my Apple Pencil charge through the sleeve and my iPad case. So, I tried the Paperlike pencil grip. The pencil grip improves writing, but it is too bulky to allow the Apple Pencil to fit in the slot on my iPad case, which means I can't charge the Apple Pencil with the pencil grip on.

I seem to be caught between removing the pencil grip each time I store the Apple Pencil, or try to find a different iPad case that will enable me to keep the grip on the Pencil and to stow it and allow it to charge on the case.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there a solution I'm missing? Any input and/or suggestions are appreciated.

I bought a pencil thinking the iPad could replace my legal pad and handwritten notes on a legal pad. Hasn't happened after 4 years. Too old school, I guess. Have spent the last year trying to decide when to toss it.

FWIW, I have been through 4 of them in my house in the last 10 years. There are only 2 in use today, both by me (wife and kids gave up on theirs after < 1year). A mini sits on the kitchen counter for calendar and list access and updates, SiriusXM, and occasional web access. The other has a keyboard case and is used as a laptop substitute for 2-5 days trips. It's worked out great for that purpose.

No suggestions on a case to house the pencil. If that method works for you, maybe just keep it nearby or stick it in your pocket when you leave?

Hang on to those pencils, buy Procreate for $10 or whatever they charge now, and follow the tutorials in James Julier's Procreate Art Facebook group. You will go from zero to hero in no time and have a retirement hobby to boot.

I agree - Procreate is fantastic.
