Do we still go to concerts? What concerts have you attended in the last few years?

Two shows worth mentioning. Ruthie Foster on Saturday night and a Tuvan throat-singing trio, Alash, on Sunday. Ruthie has great pipes, but the Tuvans can sing three tones at once. The total bill for the two shows was about $65. I occasionally pay to see the has-beens of rock 'n' roll, but only if they don't expect me to fill out their 401k.

Jazz clubs are making a minor comeback in the LA area. The blue note has a new venue here now to go along with the NYC and tokyo one. i've been going there. great venue with good sound and food.

FYI Blue Note in Honolulu is a great venue, too. Saw Sergio Mendes there a few years ago and every seat had an excellent view, it was a very fun show! Headed to Tokyo next week and will check out the Blue Note there, too, along with some of the other jazz clubs.

Went to the NYC one many years ago. Great music and food. Sitting was tight.

Well, Slaughter and Great White ended up being a pretty decent show. Slaughter went first, and the show was decent, but their drummer made up for the fact that a lot of Slaughter's hits were ballads. That guy was giving 110% even during the ballads. Jordan Cannata. I had to look him up.

Apparently, he's also the drummer for Adrenaline Mob.

Great White were pretty awesome as well. I was wondering how they'd sound without Jack Russell, but the guy they got to take his place sounded pretty good. A bit young, (born in 1997) but he did a good job. Sounded like a young Jack Russell. To be honest, he probably sounded better than Jack Russell would have if he were still with us.

I usually go to half a dozen concerts per year. This year I've already been to 2 and I have 5 lined up in the next two months alone this year.

April
Goo Goo Dolls
Diana Krall
Cannons/Bob Moses
New Constellations

May
The Black Keys

Also bought tickets already for Staind in September. Might also go see Metric and Hozier.

Seeing Bruno Mars in September. Not a great fan, but fiance loves him.

Trying something a little different.

We're going to see a Bob Seger tribute band in July. $22 each for front-row seats.

We just got the (paper!) tickets in the mail today.

Last 6-7 months saw AC / DC, YES, Kansas, Styx w/ Cheap trick
Upcoming next 2 months- Don McLean, Foreigner w/ Lou Graham, and Earth, Wind & Fire. The bands and I are on our back nine of life!
That is my theme this year. Already seen John Waite 74, Going to see Air Supply end of the month they are mid 70s. Sammy Hagar 78 with Rick Springfield 75ish, and later in fall, Lou Graham 74 with John Waite yet again. I not saying back nine, Im saying the final 3 holes, ha.
…I passed on going to see Frankie Valle age 92 ish and The 4 Seasons, because there cant be anyway he is singing all those songs without something being piped in through the speakers.

Ooooh, thank you very much, we will seek some of those Jazz kissas out! We are going to Blue Note Place in Ebisu (different from Blue Note Tokyo) on Thursday, then in a week or so we will go see a Japanese big band at the actual Blue Note Tokyo. It’s supposed to also be a comedy act but I imagine we will miss the jokes since we don’t speak much Japanese. We are having a great time so far despite not speaking the language very well. Our attempts always get a positive reaction even if they switch to English right after!

Just saw ZZ Ward on Sunday night. What a great show. She has such a strong clear voice. Her band was very good. Small intimate venue, Rams Head Annapolis MD.

We have tickets to see the original Guess Who with Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman in Boston in July

Clap For the Wolfman! That should be a good one! My lady had zero interest in Guess Who a smidge before her time, so I will have to miss that tour.

I just saw The Guess Who last month. They were really good, personable, looked like they were having a good time! Only thing (I know it's controversial...) but they didn't allow photos while they were playing.

I saw Don McLean a few nights ago-just ok. Didn't do Dreidel or Castles in the Air. Next up James Taylor in the fall.

In the past year I’ve seen;
Hozier, The Killers, Robin Trower, Role Model, Brisco, Teddy Swims, Wetleg, Lord Huron, Alanis Morissette and several others that I’ve forgotten 😎

Who is performing as YES in concert? I have seen Jon Anderson with a new band performing YES music but it was not advertised as YES.
Last night I saw Rick Wakeman and Son (Oliver Wakeman) in concert at a Performing Arts Theatre in NJ. He played some keyboard versions of YES music (the Yes suite he called it) as well as some of his own solo work like “The six wives of Henry the VIII”. His son is also an amazing keyboard player. Rick was funny, engaging with the crowd and reinforced my 50 year+ fandom of him as one of the greatest keyboard players of all-time! A great 2-hour show!

I was going to comment on this earlier as well. I started listening to Yes way back in high school around 1976/77 and consider them one of my favorite bands of all time. I saw them a few times in concert and they were fantastic. Now however, it is just not the same. I would rather see Jon Anderson and the band Geeks doing the Yes material any day. Steve Howe is the only long-time member remaining and must have rights to the band name. They are still a very good band, but I am nostalgic for some of the classic line ups. Have trouble even considering them as Yes without Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Chris Squire and Alan Whites or Bill Bruford.

Living in Vegas we went to a lot of concerts the first few years but have slowed down as it's too expensive... but the Eagles at the Sphere was AWESOME! HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

Seeing a concert at the Sphere is on my bucket list. I’m not a big Las Vegas fan, but I would love to see one of the classic rock bands like the Eagles play at the Sphere. My grown daughter and some friends went there last month to see the Back Street Boys (their favorite band growing up) and were blown away!

You don't have to be a Vegas fan. Fly in, stay at the Venetian/Palazzo, walk (inside) to the Sphere), walk back, leave the next day. 1 or 2 nights. Don't gamble. They probably have 20 restaurants at that hotel so you don't even have to leave!
