We do at both homes when we are there but not when we are not there because there would not be anyone there to attend to putting it down to half staff when called for and putting it back up, taking it down during severe weather, replacing it when it gets bad, etc.

In Texas we have a 20' flag pole with a solar light at the top. In Vermont we have a porch-mounted flag on out second-story deck with a solar light that is 45 degrees when full staff and 90 degrees when half staff.

Also, I subscribe to a serice that sends me email notifications of when the flag should be flown at half staff.

We used to many years ago on particular holidays. We had a flag mount on a second floor railing. We removed that railing and never installed a new mount anywhere.

I tried to fly one all year. Ours flies at a 45 and gets tangled. The sun here also destroys it. So now it just goes out for special occasions.

I just ordered a new one today.

Our condo association doesn't allow anything visible on our lanai (no hanging clothes and no flags). Oddly, we can have Christmas decorations. Our mainland place we fly the flag on appropriate holidays and events.

So you can advertise your religion but not your nationality? I suspect that’s illegal. I’m surprised nobody has sued them yet.

We used to even have a contest for the best decorations! That went away during Covid. I may have misspoke about flags. The "Rule" is nothing hanging on your lanai. I assumed flags counted as I've never seen one.

Legality? Something would need to be challenged before it would be "legal" or "illegal" and I'm not interested in a fight.

Only on special days. I could remount it, but where it is at my condo, the flag waves and sets off my doorbell camera. I don't like turning off my alerts so I just limit the time I have the flag out. I do respect the formal holidays and you can bet that I'll have it up on the 4th of July. At my previous house, I had a flag pole and I flew it spring to fall. It was lit so 24 hours.

Yup. A 50-star flag 24/7/365 illuminated at night and a 13-star Betsy Ross 24/7/365 but not illuminated.

I fly my American flag along with a Navy Veteran Flag 24/7 365 days a year have a solar light attached to the top of flag pole to keep flags lit all night long and change them out when they go bad. God Bless America

Yes, we fly the American and the Texas flags.
They are illuminated at night.
We usually replace them about every ~18 months or so ish..... as the Gulf Coast sun is brutal.
I was just noticing this week that its about time to replace them.
We take the old Flags to the local Fire Station for proper Flag Retirement.
We'll put up the Bunting for the 4 of July today.

Oops I forgot. I also have a small American flag on my pontoon boat. I'm expecting a new one today as the current one has a small rip in it.

I take worn out flags to the American Legion for disposal.

Only on Holidays. Although I do have a flag framed and hanging in my walkout basement room that was given to my Dad from the USS Trigger (Submarine) when he left after being the COB for several years. The flag was from his last "cruise" on that boat.
