Do you keep a "Go Bag"?

Actually have several, each vehicle has an emergency bag with a couple days supplies, blanket and water filter.
Just went thru 8 days without power or outside supplies without any issue. Seemed I learned that long ago...
Be Prepared.....

I am well prepared for emergencies, but I'm more of a shelter in place kind of guy, and there are very few things that could happen around here that would necessitate leaving.

I have several go-bags that I have stocked with things that may be needed for the situation at hand. And I can mix and match items from various bags if need be.

Nope, don't see the need.

Y2K memories in the 9-1-1 call center. I was interviewed by NBC News national reporter (can't recall his name) a month before Y2K. He kept pressing me to admit our computer system was vulnerable and would crash at midnight on NYE despite my detailed explanation why that was impossible (all 'year' issues had been fixed months earlier and, with the exception of the external database that matched caller phone numbers with addresses, our internal dispatch system was air-gapped. He wasn't pleased and the interview never aired.

BTW... NYE was usually very, very busy but that night it was eerily quiet. We had asked the public go NOT check their phones at midnight to see if they had dial-tone and they followed our advice.
I was a road warrior during Y2K. Leading up to it I was dispatched to update a lot of engineering systems at our field offices. It was crazy nuts travel and probably cured my travel bug for life and afterlife. These days I have no desire to travel but I do it when necessary, otherwise I'm all for staycations or roadtrips.

Never have.
Do live in a very safe area environmentally speaking (no flood possible, no wildfire, no earthquake, no hurricane). Only possible thing is Tornado, and then impossible to predict path with enough time to do anything other than run to basement.

A list of things to grab could be handy, if needed to leave due to invasion, but would have days to pack.

I should add, we have a pantry of food and camping equipment, life straws, plus a generator. Could muddle along for about a week before needing to go somewhere.

Like this?... Also have a couple cases of MREs sealed in a tote under the house.

Flieger,

But that wine fridge with only a bottle of rose'.......you are not ready to shelter-in-place!

Edit: I strongly suspect that that is not a bottle of rose', but is, instead, a bottle of white zinfandel. If this is the case, sheltering-in-place is no longer an option- you must bug out.

No- the main natural hazard here is tornadoes and I have a "safe room" in the basement- mostly below ground, carpeted, many electrical outlets. If I had to leave for, say, a fire, I'd grab my jewelry cache, my purse, my phone and my computer. Everything else is pretty much replaceable. A friend has a "go bag" for travel of one or two nights; I think it was an excuse to buy a new bag and then stuff with which to stock it. I have a list on my phone for packing and use that to determine what's necessary depending on the trip.

We have hundreds of jars of canned food. We own a freeze dryer and so far this year have stored 500 freeze dried eggs from our chickens. We are building a concrete and metal fortress out in the middle of nowhere. We count our firearms by the dozen and our ammo by the ton. We have stockpiles of gunpowder and lead for making bullets. We are mostly off-grid (solar). No bag needed, we aren't going anywhere!

Now, all you need to do is grade your lot for a landing strip, buy a STOL aircraft and you're ready to escape the Zombie Apocalypse when your ammo finally runs out.

Seriously, way cool set up you have. Thanks for sharing.

Kept a go bag for years as last minute work travel was common. Would simply repack the bag when I got home and left it ready to go in the closet or car. But never kept one based on fear of storms or weather or alien invasion. Never bothered with food and such other than the protein bars I carry in case of hypoglycemia…

My "get some" (Full Metal Jacket movie reference if someone doesn't get it) video I posted was made 13 years ago. I actually rarely shoot now that I have the time and property to do it. One day I might get into it again. The last firearm I built was a 300 BO with a 20% lower and Form 1 suppressor. I used my laser engraver on the lower and my lathe to make the baffles for the suppressor. I used a HF chop saw to cut the 223 brass down for the 300 BO rounds. It was a fun but over priced project.

Always,
Keep one in cars. We live in earthquake, wildfire land next to the Oregon outback. Has come in handy

The question was about go bag. We also have a very well stocked pantry, couple hundred gallons of water…in a well water storage tank. Full freezer…grow our own beef can our own garden. Back up solar for freezer. Firearms, ammo, wood stove.
None of it is because we’re scared. It all just makes sense for where and how we live.

I had a go bag when I lived in San Francisco, in case we had to quickly evacuate our high-rise building during an earthquake. But I don't have one anymore as I now live in an area where natural disasters are extremely rare. Besides, I do have a well-stocked, off-grid cabin 12 miles away if need be.

Have built 2 300 BO, Rifle and pistol. Works great on Coyotes and Deer. Have a bunch of 223 that needs chopped... dents split necks. You powder coat your home cast?

LOL. erkevin, that is actually a bottle of "cherry bounce" moonshine that one of my old Supervisors brought me back from her cousin in West Virginia. You can see the other 2 moonshines are to the left in traditional jars... Now that you pointed it out, I have to check and make sure it is not eating the cork stopper away, laying on it's side like that!

Yes, I powder coat them. I shake them in a cool whip container with plastic BB's in it. Gives them a charge for the powder to stick on.

We don't have a "go-bag" anymore in the sense that the OP describes. When we lived on a boat, we definitely had a big go-bag ready to throw into the liferaft if needed (thank goodness never needed!). There were many boating books with lists of supplies and equipment that should be packed in such a bag.

Currently we don't live in a disaster-prone area, but we do live in an area w/wildfires so I have a very short "grab list" in case of fire (which reminds me I should update it). Obviously would only grab things if it was safe to do so, not if the house was blazing.

My idea of a "go-bag" these days is a backpack pre-packed with travel-sized toiletries and essentials to help me go on some spur of the moment trip.

Our son just brought us a couple small pre-packaged bags of stuff he said they hand out on airlines for Men or Women.... soap shampoo deodorant razor etc. Neet thing to toss in the camper.

No go bag, but we have a full size camper with Stove, refrigerator, AC/heater, & solar panel.
I keep the truck full of gas and camper full of propane all the time.
Would however take an hour or so to load up the camper and fill the water tank before heading out.
