Do you like the Latest iPhone Update offering their New Password App?

I don’t think it’s really a change they just broke out that part of Settings to a separate app. Yet you can still find other passwords in settings.

No difference management wise than before.

The Passwords app was introduced with iOS 18.0 back in September.
If you were already using the iCloud keychain feature, those passwords and logins were already saved and simply copied to this new app. There is also a movement from passwords to the more secure passkeys method, and the app handles those as well.

I would research on YouTube and see what people are posting about it. I have decided not to use the Apple Passwords app and continue using my 1Password solution for managing these things.

I don't know of any reason to be concerned about the passwords app, but I'm also lazy enough to keep using 1Password, which has been good to me for many years.

I think the biggest advantage of Apple's app is that it will capture a lot of those who haven't been using good password security in the past, and move them to a stronger level of safety.

I keep going to Settings for passwords, and when it's not there, I say "DOH" there's an app for that now! Anyone else still re-training?

Haven't updated yet...waiting to see how it shakes out. If and when I do update I will continue to use RoboForm Everywhere PW mgr.

I have been using it for "Low risk" passwords only.

We continue to use 1Password for Family tracking and sharing.

I have not used any of the password managers yet, but need to go through a learning curve and try it for better security.
Presently, I have all my passwords written in a notebook which can be a pain.
I do use two factor authentication that gives me some confidence.

I don't use either google passwords or apple passwords, because if somebody gets into you account they can get your passwords. We use a third part password manager - Bitwarden. There are several good ones. They are encrypted and have excellent security.

It’s a bit annoying. The previous Autofill worked well. This new approach requires an additional step.

I was already using iCloud Keychain so migrated to the new Password app easily. I haven’t had any issues with it, pretty seamless for me so far - and I probably have at least 50 (non sensitive) passwords on the app - way too many to manage any other way.

I know not what you speak of but I'm highly PO'd that my lowly iPhone SE not runs physically hot specifically on the one thing I use the phone for: Podcasts at 1.5x. Drains the battery like a sieve. I'm debating doing a factory reset and not going back to 18.

You may have seen/tried these steps, so FWIW.

Apple only solution. The just added a firefox extension for passwords on other platforms but you are out of luck for other browsers. They still separate addresses and credit cards into different apps unlike third party password managers. They also refuse to store a CC security code so you need to have that when a web site needs your CC.

IMO, good security requires layers of protection that are separate from each other. If I use the password manager from the phone software company, I don’t have a truly separate layer. So, I use a 3rd party password manager. It also works on a variety of computer and phone operating systems.

I have to click on fill password instead of just using the fingerprint.
Yeah not seeing that using Safari on Macbook Pro. Just press the finderprint button and it fills the username & password fields.

I’m talking about on iOS, introduced in iOS 18. MacBook OS is different.

Ok I understand now. On my phone all I have to do is click the fill button and it uses face Id to complete the login.
If you upgrade your phone to face ID you can skip the extra step of pressing the fingerprint button too.
