Do you watch soap operas?

Do you now or have you ever regularly watched soap operas, either ones during the daytime or prime time?
Back in the day, I was pretty hooked on "Dallas" but that is the only one I have ever followed.

Not any more. But when I was in college/law school I was hooked on daytime soaps. Right as I got out of law school, VCRs came out and I bought the first model VCR so I could record my soaps when I was at work. I did that for several years, but eventually it was taking up too much time to watch so I dropped them probably 25 or 30 years ago.

Never watched daytime soaps. I did watch Dallas and a few others when I was in my teens, but not in the past few decades.

Nope. I'd rather watch paint dry. Same with most daytime television.

We watched a soap opera once, back in the day. The Brazilian made "La Esclava Isaura" was shown in Venezuela in 1980 and was a huge hit. A sort of Latin American version of "Upstairs Downstairs" or Downton Abbey".

A huge waste of time, but probably still better than Cubs melodrama...

The gal is currently watching a telenovela done in a very self aware style - Jane the Virgin. Kind of a Mary Hartman Mary Hartman show 40(!!) years later.

My sister (in her 60's) has been hooked on soaps for decades.

We have enough ongoing drama in our extended family to produce our own soaps.

Totally hooked on Downton Abbey, but never watch tv during the day. Waste quite a bit of time on the Internet during the day, but I don't turn the tv on.

Nope, though I watched the Brazilian ones while I lived in Europe for a few years. Some were serious, others were hilarious. The ones here in USA - ick .

I watched General Hospital when I was in middle school. The whole "Luke and Laura" thing. But never since then.

Mr. A. watches news all day. Given that the media inject as much drama as humanly possible into any story, that's his "soap opera."

We've watched a season or two of Downton Abbey and Breaking Bad on Netflix, but not as ongoing weekly shows.

My Mother listened to the radio all day (the congenial sort of radio variety show that has not existed since the early 1970's) but disapproved of soap operas - the kind that, on the radio, used to be introduced with swelling electric organ chords. In fact, she was so "down" on soap operas that I, as a child, became afraid of them. When I finally watched one on TV around 1980 (probably "Dallas") it was such a revelation..."Why, this is just a dopey serial about goofy people."

I used to watch Days of our Lives. It got completely weird: witchcraft, voodoo, talking dolls, all kinds of unbelievable stuff. I gave it up, and switched to the Young & the Restless. It was all about normal stuff like divorces, affairs, bankruptcy, etc. Then it got very, very weird so I Googled it. The Days of our Lives head writer moved to Y&R. So I dumped that one too. I figured I got five extra hours a week back by giving up that drivel.

I was in a Mex restaurant the other day, and for some reason they had General Hospital on the bar TV (slow sports day?). And Luke is still there!!!! Looking pretty old and even rather decrepit.

When I am sick and home in middle of the day, not feeling able to be outside or in the garage, I have concluded that nothing is worth watching. Daytime TV is such garbage it will rot your brain.
