Easy Voting

Today was the first day of early voting in our state. Went to polling site and it was easy peasy and we were out of there within 10 minutes. I feel good that we voted early and now don't have to worry that we would not be able to vote on Election Day.

We early voted yesterday. About 30 minutes at the polling place. Line of about 50 people but it went quickly. Easy peasy.

It makes much more sense to have a reasonable period of time that people can vote rather than crushing it all into one day with really long lines that discourage participation.
I agree. A couple of weeks should be enough to prevent lines but YMMV.

Didn't know I had a choice. Poll worker pushed it o me after I inserted my ballot.
Thank you very much ma'am but not on the forehead, please! Poll w*rkers! Whatchagonnado?

We’re old fashioned and will wait until Nov 5. I voted for years absentee and always wondered if they actually counted my vote. I had heard if there weren’t more absentee ballots than the difference in the election counts, they didn’t bother counting them.
My county today published a list online of nearly 400 ballots that have been rejected so far for various errors. This is in PA, so they’re hoping people will find out about the errors and request to cancel and revote. Every vote may count.

I actually enjoyed the old "voting process" but it's now difficult for me to stand in line so I appreciate early voting.

Just got a notification that our mail in ballots were “accepted and will be counted on election day”.

I requested absentee ballot again this year. I love sitting down at my table and taking my time. Dropped in the ballot box Saturday.

I have missed exactly one election since turning 18. I was sent, last minute, on a work trip. (Found out Friday I was traveling Monday, Tuesday was election Day). I lived in PA at the time (1990's) and they made you go in, in person, to request an absentee ballot and show proof you were going to be out of town. I didn't have time before their office closed.

California allowed mail in ballots before most states. My mother worked for the county Registrar of Voters and always voted by mail because election day was a 20 hour day for her. She didn't have time to bite since she was busy putting out fires and running the media election central logistics.

I voted in person until they started automatically mailing ballots during the pandemic. I forward my college kids' ballots you them at school. Just got off the phone making the youngest to fill his out and mail it back.

I never missed one, but it was always a mailed ballot until I retired. Being in the military, there was no other option. Unfortunately, and much to my chagrin, I learned later that those absentee ballots are seldom counted unless the in-person vote is extremely close.

First day of early voting in our state. DW and I were on line at 10:15 at one of the county voting centers and were done by 10:55. We passed the location again around 2PM, and the outside portion of the line was twice as long as when we voted.

I will be working as an Election Judge on election day, and it will be interesting to see how busy we are based on the early voting turnout.

I've never missed a national election. Of course, I could not vote until age 21. I recall elections being a huge deal on campus ca 1968 when I turned 21.

  • Eight states and Washington, D.C., allow all elections to be conducted entirely by mail: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Washington state.
It was interesting to look it up... but of these 9 areas the electoral votes were 83 to 9 in 2020.
We both have voted early in person as we do every election, only took a few minutes

I wonder why Michigan was not listed. Our state allows mail in voting. I’m not sure what percentage of people take advantage of it but all you have to do is check a box on your ballot and you will be mailed a ballot in the future as long as you keep voting. We also have early voting. I prefer doing it at home at my desk. Then I drop it at a designated box at our city hall.

No lines at early voting. Choice of 6 or so people to check you in and maybe 16 voting booths. Easy-peasy.

I do too, but my state did a lot of voter clean up on mail ins and I didn't get one this year...I always vote but oh well.

Our county has appointments for early voting - was kinda like going TSA pre-check as we got our own roped-off line and went straight to the front lol. Didn't feel too bad, 2 of us vs. 10 in the riff-raff line.

I just saw a news report that so far 19.6 % of Massachusetts voters have already voted. I am one of them 😇

Though HI does mail ballots to all registered voters (heh, heh, except us!) you CAN still vote in person at a couple (I think) of locations. Don't ask me why someone would, but it's available. Don't know the procedure (what do you do with your mail-ballot?) Maybe it's for folks like us who had our ballots returned by USPS since we were forwarding at the time the ballots arrived.

Voted today. In and out in 10 minutes and that was with a line at the beginning. They could check 3 or 4 people in at a time and had about 20 machines. It went quickly.

I was a little shocked that they let our school district add 3 bond elections at the end of the ballot. It seems like mixing a federal election with a local school funding vote was wrong. So, I voted no for all of them.

The funding had been rejected before. So, they modified the request a little and tried again. I think they piggybacked on a federal election in the hope that the uninformed would just vote yes.

Early voted today about 2pm. They opened a new early voting site less than a mile from my house. Took a half hour including drive time.

We had a couple of local (county) elections on our ballot too.

Had to wait a little bit because we managed to arrive just before noon so hit some lunch traffic. Small polling space with only two check-ins but probably had a dozen machines. Waited for check-in 10 mins maybe.

I took our mail in ballots to a drop box location at the library today, we are in Washington with all mail in voting.
I remember the days going to the local polling place with my mom.
It was a great day to see your neighbors and friends that you rarely see in a rural community. Mom really enjoyed it.
