Easy Voting

I was a little shocked that they let our school district add 3 bond elections at the end of the ballot. It seems like mixing a federal election with a local school funding vote was wrong. So, I voted no for all of them.
Ours also included local BOE elections and a state referendum. But have had school bonds in the past.

I used to vote on Election Day until a couple of decades ago. Since sample ballots are sent out early it gives me time to vet out all the judges, referendums, and local offices that are included for a vote. Then I go to early voting with my choices. This year it was the second day of early voting.

First early voting day in NY. Opened at 9am, arrived at 9am, had to wait an hour to finish, the line was out the door. Unheard of, usually hardly anyone in a usual year.

Voted last night and dropped off the ballot this morning. My part is done.

Now I can get ready for my trip. I’ll be watching the results from across the pond.

Lines at all the early voting locations around here were extremely long all three days of it. But the good people running the show were highly competent and kept it all moving pretty quickly. I was impressed -- they had obviously been well trained. But I expect even longer lines on Tuesday, since the number of polling stations has been reduced from last year. I'm told it's because getting poll workers is hard these days.

You only had 3 days of early voting?

Not surprising. You have nearly 7 times as many people as my state. :)

This is our first year of early voting in Connecticut. We had 14 days - from 10/21 to 11/3. By all appearances, it went smoothly. We have 12% as many people as Texas and only 80% as many as your state.

Hmmm. Perhaps I've discovered the reason for the long lines here.
:(

I never missed one, but it was always a mailed ballot until I retired. Being in the military, there was no other option. Unfortunately, and much to my chagrin, I learned later that those absentee ballots are seldom counted unless the in-person vote is extremely close.
That couldn't work for IL , as we have about 30->50 judges to vote for.

That would work for if only voting for 1 person/choice.

I wonder why Michigan was not listed. Our state allows mail in voting. I’m not sure what percentage of people take advantage of it but all you have to do is check a box on your ballot and you will be mailed a ballot in the future as long as you keep voting. We also have early voting. I prefer doing it at home at my desk. Then I drop it at a designated box at our city hall.

Exactly why I love mail in voting (but I drop it off in the box at the polling station indoors, as mail is less trustworthy).

I get to research all the people, as we have to vote for Water people, and a whole ton of judges, incredibly some of our judges (who I hope get voted out) are (IMHO) criminals in their personal life, who haven't been convicted.

The best way of getting judges go could be the subject of a thread all its own.
