Electric Razors

Philips One blade for me.
It is like a mini clipper rather than a razor, so not as close of a shave, but much easier on the skin.

Other electric razors (Braun, Panasonic) didn't work for me, too much irritation.

I do not like them either... they irritate my skin... especially my neck... but used them for many years...

I liked both Norelco and Braun... Braun was much louder than Norelco and did not seem to get all the hairs..

I now use a small clipper to trim whiskers down low... does not irritate but not a clean shave... sometimes have to break out the Norelco if I (or DW) wants me to be clean shaven..

Norelco 9000 series. Works well for me. Usually get 2 years out of it. No irritation. Over $200.

I use one and a straight edge every day. As far as brand I think they are all pretty good, but I like the three-razor floating head.

Used an electric when first started shaving. Received as a gift. Switched to a blade when Air Force sent me overseas. Never went back to an electric

50+ years of electric razors. Panasonic at the moment

Remington shaver - never paid more than $35 for a new one. The blades last about 1 year and cost about $30.

What do they mean when they advertise wet or dry?
It means you can use them in the shower. Also can put shaving gel on your face and use them.

Currently using a Panasonic ARC5.

Norelco triple head shavers have served me well for decades. I replace the blades once a year. For me, the best thing about them apart from very good results is that they are the quietest electric shavers I have ever used. That means a lot to me first thing in the morning.

Norelco has been my choice for years as well. My last Braun was pretty loud, and the design left more stray hairs than a Norelco.

A 9000 series has lasted me for >5 years, with blade changes every 18 months or so. I'm happy with that given it gets used daily on my face and scalp. I also have a 5000 series as a backup that also gets used for the occasional wet shave.

For a "wet shave", I lather up my face and scalp with bar soap and have at it. IME, the soap and water provides a closer shave than using it dry. Both of these Norelcos can be used wet or dry.

No electric is gonna shave as close as a blade, but my Braun comes close. One thing I've noticed as I've aged: My beard is not nearly as visible (used to be dark and now mostly gray.) So once over lightly with the Braun and I'm good. Wouldn't pass military inspection, but good enough for every-day. Full disclosure: I don't usually shave every day. If I'm gonna see people, I'll shave but otherwise, it's probably every other day. YMMV

I have a Braun. I like it for in between shaving with a razor blade. I use/have used them two ways. Today I just use it for a quick clean up. I don’t go against the grain and I’m not going for the closest shave. I like the electric shaver very much for that purpose. When working, and now, only when I really care what I look like, I would shave with a blade and then clean up with my electric shaver. Mostly, I’d use it on my neck. I’d blade shave with the grain and electric shave afterwards against the grain. Because the electric shaver has a foil between your skin and the blade, it wouldn’t be quite as close but it wouldn’t cause any ingrown hairs doing it that way either.

I used to have an older style Braun but recently upgraded to the 9 series which is a wet and dry shaver. I don’t like the wet shaving or using gel with it while wet shaving. Basically too messy and more trouble than it’s worth. If I’m wet shaving, I’m just going to use a blade.

My older shaver looked like this one:

I actually liked that one better. I got my neck clean with never a nick. My current Braun will nick me (or pull my hair), I’m not sure, but it hurts. As I learn to use it better, it doesn’t nick as often, but my older (simpler) Braun never did that.

In summary, I like a wet shave with a blade best but I like having an electric around for touch ups.

I'm just thinking. I could grow my white gray beard as long and big as I want. To ZZ Top and beyond!
Lots of guys here do. Not sure if I would do the chin beard braid though, if I grew it that long. :)

Can't really grow out my rock and roll hair these days. It just looks like Krusty the Clown when it starts to get long.

I’ve used a 3-head Norelco/Phillips since I started shaving. That’s what my dad used so that’s what I’ve always used. Works fine.

I have only ever used electric shavers. I am on my 3rd one in almost 30 years of use. Averaged out by year its between $10-20 per year and they are easy to use so it's the only option as far as i'm concerned. Currently using a Norelco.

Same here. I never liked the weird "tinfoil" thing that Remington had. No, they don't shave as close as a razor and no, I don't care. The only thing lately that bugs me is that I have to go over and over on my face. I don't know if my beard's getting tougher or the razor is wearing out or both.

I used a blade for the first 8 years and then got tired of the morning ritual and grew a full beard although I did shave my neck. 15 years later my wife gave me an electric razor. I guess I have been using electric for the past 35 years. Remington has served me just fine for $25 but the price has gone up to the most recent of about $50. I don't see a need to spend much more than that. I also have a $25 Remington beard trimmer.
