I think we filed a claim on the above action several years ago. We just received an e-mail notice of our settlement...

Your Additional Settlement Payment
$7.44
WOW! Not enough for a single meal at Mickey D's.
And it's an electronic payment to boot. If there are too many hoops to jump through to collect our bounty we will just let it lay. These class actions only benefit the attorneys and their firms. They are not worth my time.

Very typical, however.

You wonder if the "offender" doesn't actually initiate the law suit, hire some lawyers, collect the names of the "victims", come up with a "settlement" and go on as if nothing has happened.

Yes siriee! I got mine and I am saving it for a rainy day. The only way I can spend this is with an E Card like said above. I feel so blessed! I wonder what the attorneys got?

There's another thread on this topic, for those of you who can't get enough Equifax news: Equifax again proves to be the worst of the worst

The above post describes how I had my pre-loaded card issued in a random name (so that company couldn't loose it to hackers), then apply the balance to an Amazon gift card.

If you don't hear from me, it's probably because I've been incarcerated for suspicious financial activities.

I loaded mine onto my Amazon gift balance. Seemed the quickest and easiest way to use it.

I got notified by email on December 11 that I am eligible for a payment and will receive an electronic pre-paid card during the week of December 16. However, I do not know what the amount is and have not received any follow-up.

The only people who really make money off these lawsuits are the lawyers.

Interesting thing just happened. Several years ago we filed another claim in a class action lawsuit this time against Verizon wireless. In today's e-mail was a post from Zelle stating that our 'award" of $14.81 has been deposited into our bank accout.

Same $14.81 today, but a prepaid card:

You have received a Virtual Prepaid Mastercard® worth $14.81 as your Verizon Administrative settlement payment. Please follow the directions below to redeem your payment. You can spend these funds online anywhere Mastercard is accepted or add to a digital wallet and use it with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay.

If you have any remaining balance after 24 months, you may request that a new card with the remaining balance be re-issued to you. If you use your original or reactivated prepaid card at least once every twelve months, you will avoid any inactivity fees. If your card is inactive for twelve consecutive months, a $0.95 fee will be subtracted from your balance for each month thereafter of continued inactivity.

To activate and use your card, please click the REDEEM VIRTUAL CARD button below. After you redeem your card, you may use your card online wherever Mastercard is accepted, add it to a digital wallet and use it with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay (or in stores that accept mobile wallet Debit Mastercard), or follow the instructions on the Card Details page at MyPrepaidCenter (using the website link below) for assistance with alternative payment options.
