Estimating Retirement expenses and taxes?

I’ve read that I need my expenses x 25 (ish) as my retirement nest egg.
Do those retirement expenses include annual taxes on the nest egg? Or is that already calculated in the 4% withdrawal rule...?

Yes, expenses include taxes.

However, quite frequently your taxes will be much lower. Take your income tax return and take out earnings and add in any pension, any SS and any tax-deferred account withdrawals to get an idea of how much your taxes might change.
