Bummer. My AT&T internet bill just went up another $5. This is after a $5 increase last June, and another $15 before that over the previous year. So, $25 over 2 years.

I am irritated at this 40% increase.
Bet they will reduce lower than before if you make a credible threat to switch.

Medicare Part B deductible

  • 2015 – $147
  • 2020 – $198
  • 2022 – $233
  • 2025 - $257

I shipped a 4 lb 11 oz package from the post office using the lowest priority ground advantage option, no extra insurance, and it cost just under $20. I was expecting it to cost less than $10!

T-mobile's current price is $50, and $30 if you have any postpaid line. That's less than your INCREASE. Plus a $150 gift card. And 15 days to like it or cancel for free. My current Spectrum 300 is $35, up from $20; see what you can get it for. AT&T is sending out ads for $65.

It's really these recurring charges you have to pay the most attention to. Kiplinger's Personal Finance, which used to cost like $12, is telling me what a good deal their new $36 price is. Nope. I'll read it at the library.

You get better pricing if you use USPS.com. With Enhanced Click-N-Ship and my own packaging, I see rates as low as $11 for a package of that weight (I do not know if the contents or size might make a difference).

I agree on recurring charges. Have you tried the T-Mobile internet offering?

Nope. Not going to switch to 5G for internet. Any competitors must be fiber.

In my case, Google is a competitor and I've been ignoring them because I don't like their data vacuums. Still, perhaps a call is in order to AT&T to threaten a switch to Google.

Candy Canes. We buy them to decorate our Christmas Tree. For years they were either $1 OR $2 at Walmart. Last year they may have been $1.25 and $2.50. Now they are $1.72 and $2.86. Fortunately we stock up after Christmas, when they are discounted 50% or more, so we will use last years stash and wait for the post-Christmas sale :) .

LOL!:)
Do you consume all those candy canes annually after removing them from the tree?
Assume somebody enjoys them, since you don't "recycle" and they could be reused for many years -perhaps indefinitely if no intent to consume.
Consuming a "tree load" of candy canes annually is surely not ADA-approved LOL.
Merry Christmas!

YouTube TV has always worked hard to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want, with features that make it easy to enjoy the best of live TV.

To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service, we're updating our monthly price from $72.99/month to $82.99/month starting January 13, 2025.

13.7% increase. Good thing I was planning to cancel after football season is done.

I just booked a round trip in Business Class between Vienna and Brussels in May- nonstop on Austrian. I've been paying for Business Class intra-Europe because lounge access, priority lines and meals make things nicer, and was expecting $300-$400. It was $576. I booked it anyway even though they use those "cheater" Business Class seats created by putting a panel across the middle seat. Anyone thinking of getting extra width for the extra cost will be disappointed. I'm guessing that Vienna and Brussels aren't served by the low-cost carriers but then maybe that means I'll encounter fewer hordes of party animals.

I split the cost with a friend I share it with so still a great deal.

Was in the local mall today to get my steps in (rain out). My friend wanted to stop for a snack so he stopped at Cinnabon and ordered a cinnamon bun and water. The bun was $6.89! The water was no charge....

I have a recipe for salmon loaf that I make from time to time. The recipe calls for a 15.5 ounce can of salmon. I noticed that the cans I buy are now 14.75 ounces. Another recipe messed up by shrinkflation.

Re: AT&T Internet pricing. Not for us! We have little competition for Internet services in our area. No cable TV. 5G is completely unreliable at the moment, and 4G is not much better (we use Wi-Fi calling when at home). The only other Internet service is another fiber company, and they have colluded on pricing with AT&T.

Apples were over 18% higher than my last trip to Walmart. I've noticed the price has sometimes gone up and down over the last year - on the high end of the variation now at over $4 for a small bag.

Comcast is raising my internet service 5.3%, after having increased it even more last year. Even with my auto pay from checking discount, it's almost $60/mo for the lowest tier of service.

"However, due to these rising costs, the cost of Sling Orange, Sling Blue and Sling Orange + Blue will increase by $5.99 per month." And the price for new subscribers is apparently going up $10; Blue was $30 and Orange was $35, now they're advertising $10 more. The combo Orange & Blue, however, is still $60. But there are only about 7 channels on Orange that aren't on Blue, but they include ESPN and Disney.

$6 on 30 is 20%; $10 on 30 is 33%! And the customer service is still almost completely absent.

I was curious when I read this as I remembered that I had two cans of salmon in the back of my cupboard so I dug them out. Both (two different brands, one pink salmon and the other red salmon) were 14.75oz, and were older than I thought. Both have "Best by" dates in 2016 on them. So the 14.75 oz cans have been around for a while.

We put candy canes on the tree too, have since the kids were little. Used to be, one box was enough, but with spouse and grands, now two boxes are used. We can't save them though. They get eaten by Chrtismas Day :)
One year, I simply didn't buy them. Boy, did I hear it from the little ones!

Eggs are back to $4.99/doz for regular. Had to buy some for holiday baking.

Youtube TV is getting high.....For us, we are able to justify because we share with family. So far, we've been able to get away with the one subscription for 4 households....That works out well until it does not.

Yep, they get consumed. About 4 dozen canes. But not just us. We usually had a few social events and visitors in the week-10 days after Christmas, and visiting family/guests are welcome to help themselves to them :).

It is a tradition we started when the kids were young. Even though they are old and moved out, when they stop by the house during/after Christmas they ask about them. By the time the tree gets taken down only 1 or 2 are left 😂 .

Costco charges $4.99 for two dozen, in my area. But, the local Kroger owned market is pretty close to $5 a dozen.

Costco is near to my home so It’s savings like this that’s make the membership fee a no-brainer.

Ate at Dennys a few days ago (during our annual trek to Waikiki to look at the Christmas decorations in the hotels.) Last time we went to Denny's over a year ago, we got out of there for $20 for the two of us - with tip. This time, it was over $30. Only reason we ate at Dennys was that they had one parking spot open in their lot. Local inflation still on a tear here though YMMV.
