I was looking at my high school reunion group photo and couldn’t help thinking ‘Hey, I think I look younger than most of these folks’. That got me to wonder if ‘there’s an app for that’. Turns out there is an app called Estimate My Age. I let the app scan a recent photo and sure enough it estimated me age as 60 when I am 68. (You didn’t think I’d start this thread if the results had not been favorable, right?). So then I found a website ‘facialage.com’ and it put me 3 yrs younger than the app using the same photo.

Facialage.com says I look 12 years younger than my actual age. I'm liking this app. LOL.

What was the first site you tried?

It's bogue as hell. I ran a pic of me at age 39 through it and it said I was 39. Perhaps if I had shaved and gotten a haircut I would have been assessed as younger. Immediately followed that with a pic of me at age 60. Said I was 36.

Interesting. Facialage.com got my age exactly right. But it placed my wife 14 years younger. I'm fine with that result :) .

Just for grins, I uploaded this photo I found online and it said he was 80.

In an age where facial recognition technology is regularly used as a security measure, it would seem unwise to post pictures of yourself to some random website.
Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Won't do it. But I've always been told that I look 10-15 years younger than I am. That's nice but I wish I felt that young. Aches and pains are what ages me, keeps me from being as active as I'd like to.

That makes sense on a superficial level but I I guess I don’t really see the danger esp wrt facial recognition technology.

well now they know your face, your IP, probably your email.... which means they know what city you live it, and your actual age (and I bet the app reads better than we think, but spits out a vanity number).

So, if you aren't 100% sure who is behind this "game" and who they are selling your data too, probably not the smartest play to make.

Just keep in mind that nothing is ever free. If they're giving you something (like your estimated age) they are taking something.

Nobody rides for free.

How do they know my email and my actual age? Maybe I should worry about the security cams at the grocery store capturing my license plate along with facial rec too.

So let's say their software does work and they can tell you are, say, 57-59. Even though it spits our 48 and you go "haha I wish", it has your demographic.

And while I haven't looked at any site listed in this thread, almost all these quiz things ask you to enter your email to get the results. Maybe this one doesn't, but most "fun" sites want something from you to give the answer.

I even clicked on an add on twitter the other day, backed out of the page, and then got an email for doing nothing other than clicking a link. So if you found this fun-page from say...facebook or any other site, it might very well have passed some info about you when you clicked it, before you did anything. Most free sites gather a whole lot more than we think they might.

And no you don't have to worry about security cameras, and you can play away on these sites all you like. I just thought some people might like to consider that they are giving away far more about themselves than they might want or expect by participating.

12 years low for me. I probably could have done better with a clean shave….but it hasn’t been a week yet!

Also, be sure to turn off your phone.

And, no one was estimated older than they are! Something is off.
Not true. I ran pics of friends and even some childhood pics of me . Many came back with ages older than they were when the pic was taken

Interesting!! It aged me about 3 years younger. I'm completely grey and weathered so I thought maybe I would be aged older.
