We have many things that we have acquired from family over the years, and the funny stories that go with them. Have the 1964 John Deere 110 mower that my Grandfather bought new, have a 5-generation picture of us sitting on it....
Today we are preparing for our Granddaughters baby shower, and drag out the old Oster slicer... While slicing and rolling for the meat tray it dawned on me.... this same machine cut the stuff for our wedding back in 1986...

My grandparents bought a farmhouse around 1930. It came with a treadle-powered sewing machine, made by Wheeler & Wilson before they were taken over by Singer in 1905, so the machine and the original manual had both names. It's in an ornate wooden cabinet which folds out to a sewing workstation.

I inherited that machine from my mother. It's still my go-to for basic stuff around the house. I can set it up and use it much more quickly than any of those new-fangled, portable electric machines.

I have a bible that has my Grandfathers' birth recorded in it (1896....), as well as many deaths of relatives recorded and written as the "War of Northern Aggression"! Not 100% how old, but that tells me pretty darn old!

I have a photo album that dates from the late 80s (the 1880s). It's loaded with tin-types as well as photo-paper pictures. It's all my dad's side of the family. 70 years ago, my dad sat me on his lap and went over who was who. Of course, I recall none of the names. I wish he had labeled things but he didn't. Now, it's just a relic that will likely be thrown in a dumpster when I pass. In the mean time, I like the old photo technology.

A friend found an old photo album at a thrift store that had photos from that era... pretty cool stuff.

DW and I have virtually no family heirlooms. At least nothing of value. And nothing that goes back several generations.

A few things from our parents, but just photo albums and a Milwaukee Braves baseball...no nice watches or antique anything.

I bought an 1880s photo album at an estate sale for $3. Sold it on eBay for $100. Several of the photographers were well known civil war photographers.

I have some old photos of great grandparents.
I have a vase and water pitcher from my maternal great grandmother.
I have a silver handmade vase holder from a great Uncle. Unfortunately the glass vase broke, but I keep the silver holder, it's gorgeous!
I have a stone carved tomahawk head and arrowheads that were tilled up from our family farm, Dad had them when he was a kid. The farm was originally owned by my great great Grandfather.
