I just got a note from Fidelity Elan Visa that said they'd give you $100 towards your Global Entry fee every 4 years. That's nice. I got Global Entry free from one of my other cards, but nice that they added the benefit.

And they added-back the automobile rental CDW coverage. I called them before I went on my last trip and said I couldn't find the CDW stuff in the benefits fine-print. They said that's because there WAS no coverage for rental cars. I said, "Mmmmmokay, I'll use a different card." So they flip-flopped on that. Maybe they were negotiating a better rate and had to walk away. Anyway CDW is back.

Wow! Might use it in a couple of years. One of us will be covered with the other card.

Be aware, as indicated in the FAQs on that page, that this coverage is secondary to any coverage that your personal auto insurance may cover.

We just made appointments for this week for the TSA PreCheck application. It's $78 fee, so it's like buy one get one free. We have travel to FL in 3 weeks, so we should be approved in time to be able to use it then.

I think that's the way most of my cards have been, but I usually go with the no annual fee cards. Some of the fancy cards might be primary coverage.

I hadn't noticed it was both Global Entry and TSA Pre check. Good timing for you!

Thanks - DH and I recently got those cards.

Good info but I'm well-covered by my personal auto coverage including Umbrella. When they start with the sales pitch on the Collision Damage Waiver I stop them dead with, "I have $3 million of liability limits on my personal auto policy". I may look into Global Entry since I already have TSA Pre-check.

I really appreciated it when Fidelity dropped the foreign exchange fees- I now use it a lot more when traveling outside of the US although I still use the Costco Visa for the 3% back on travel.

I'm sure most of us here have good liability coverage and good collision coverage. I also suspect that the collision coverage is subject to a deductible, in our case $500. So the credit card coverage would help with the deductible.
