Fidelity tax documents delayed.

Guess I am lucky. All 1099's from Fidelity were available in January.

Yeah, mine are delayed from Fido. I have a small REIT holding, a leftover from a horrible experience years ago with a local Ameriprise office, that hasn't done their reporting to Fidelity yet. Everything else is ready. Someday I'll find a way to liquidate this crappy thing. Right now, the REIT fund is not allowing holders to cash out. Been that way for years.
Me too. Usually it's just a REIT that makes mine late, but this year they are also waiting for info from NAC. I don't even have an estimate for when ours will be ready.

I'm waiting for a K-1 from MIL's estate too, and I assume the trust's 1099s are also delayed for similar reasons, so it'll probably be late March before they can file and early April for us.

i can’t remember the last time I got my Fido 1099s in February. It’s always been March.

I have Schwab and they initially said docs would be ready 2/28 , but they became available yesterday so maybe you'll get them sooner.

Vanguard says our 1099 will be ready on 2/20. OTOH, Fidelity says that Form 5498-SA showing our HSA contributions won't be ready until 5/26... But our CPA said that printing out activity reports from the dates when we contributed will work for tax documentation.

Yeah the 5498-SA contribution documents are never issued in Jan, always May. I think you still have time until filing to make HSA contributions for the prior year. We use our Quicken generated reports.

Instead of a 5498, I use the 1099 statement which includes the RMD and the Roth in conjunction with the Roth confirmation statement.

Neither Schwab nor Vanguard has issued my mom’s 1099 yet so this isn’t just a Fidelity issue.

I got the same Fido email about the delay until March. The only offending item is a zero coupon treasury bond, I don't understand how they can not know the details of that.
But, I'll willingly wait any length of time to avoid having to do an amended return.

Got mine last Saturday 2/8 but what I have there is fairly straightforward.

I'm still waiting for 1099's from Merrill and Schwab (don't have an account at Fidelity). Both say expected by 2/28. No big deal as I'd rather get one with the correct info later versus an earlier one and then one or two corrected ones.

Just received notification of a 1099 for a JPMorgan CD that won't be issued until 3/7.

Yes, I got the March 7 message. I'm not sweating it. After I had problems with other brokers years ago, I wait until April 1 to file. I try to not have a refund so there is no rush. I really got screwed one year by a late 1099 amendment. Never again will I file before April 1.

The Bogleheads are talking about this. Turns out I'm in the group that has a T-Bill with the CUSIP 912796CX5. We're all delayed. At least Fido is giving us a preliminary, so we can fill out our TurboTax and tweak it later.

The 912796CX5 thing is strange. Why would a T-Bill cause problems? More discussion on Bogleheads at: Funny Reason for Fidelity Tax Form Delay? - Bogleheads.org

Mine showed up on the 8th of this month. Except for Fidelity Money Markets, everything else I own in my taxable account is an ETF from iShares and I pretty much always get my 1099s the second week of February each year. Each fund provider is going to have their own timeline getting the data to Fidelity.

Cheers

This. I don't bother to start on my taxes until late March.
It’s been many, many years since we’ve gotten blindsided by a corrected form. I even remember way back receiving one in the mail on April 15 one year! Of course that late forced filing a revised return, mailing in paper ugh.

Knocking on wood, but these days we usually file in early March.

We have far fewer third party funds than we used to, and generally that has meant much simpler and faster tax forms. Still have a few legacy funds but these seem to be well behaved in terms of timely tax reporting.

Glad I'm not the only one who got a late amendment. About 15 years ago, I got an amended 1099 on April 20th or so, postmarked April 15. People don't believe me when I tell them this happened.

The change was significant. Resulted in $100 refund.

Haven't seen anything like it since, but I've also gotten rid of third party funds too.

Tangential topic. For those who receive printed brokerage statements, did your January 2025 monthly statement come printed in black-and-white, instead of the nicer printout with a lightly shaded green background? Mine looks almost like a photocopy without a 3-hole punch for storing in a binder.

Confirming Fidelity switched to white paper for their monthly statements, and you need to punch the 3 holes yourself.

I have everything except Fido needs to tell me what % of FZDXX is state tax exempt.
This something Fido will be doing? We had FZDXX and a bit of SPAXX last year and it's in the account on which we are waiting for the statement.
