Hi There,

I've been lurking around here a few years. I was originally going to retire in 2021, but that came and went (pandemic, some personal health issues to deal with ...). Anyway, I finally pulled the plug in January 26 of this year (2024). A little more than 5 months in and so far so good. Not bugging my wife, staying incredibly busy and engaged, and really just loving it. She's still working so not much stress financially (we're both 62).

Anyway is there a "Class of 2024" thread? I couldn't find it.

Thanks for all the guidance you all have provided over the years. It made my decision much easier.

Congratulations!

How do you plan on spending your time?

I retired last year. It was the first time I had a summer off in 40 years. It was so amazing. I hope you enjoy your retirement. Summer in Colorado is great.

Congrats DenverCraig! Well done and good to hear you're keeping busy and enjoying it.

Congratulations! Keep in touch and share your retirement journey here.

Thanks, All!

I did engineering and marketing in real life. I'm also a musician. I've gotten with a few other recent retirees and we play a ton of music, during the day, at night, whenever we want! I also play piano twice a week in the lobby of a local hospital (I get a free lunch!)

Besides music, I'm doing lots of home improvement and repair, some travel (though we did that pre-tirement), some bike riding and hiking, reading, etc.

And naps. Lots of naps. :)

Welcome!
What a wonderful thing to embrace each and every day. I look at so many people at mid-sixties and still working and sure wouldn't have. Good for them but missing out on the great life of retirement.

Congratulations. If all goes according to plan I'll join you next year.

Congratulations DenverCraig! It really sounds as if things are just about as could as they can be.

Congratulations on your retirement. Love you hospital music gig. My mom used to do that at the nursing homes. People came alive. Good on you!

Congrats! It sounds like you've sailed smoothly into it. And like Koolau, I love that you volunteer to play piano at a local hospital. Live music makes such a huge, huge difference in a hospital setting where so many emotions are running all over the place. Thank you for doing that.

I'm a big fan of naps. I'm still working but working from home gives me the opportunity to take a quick nap when there is gap in meetings and I need to de-stress.

Congrats on your retirement!

Yeah I used to grab a 20 minutes nap at w*rk in one of the break ares. Amazing how a quick nap can refresh you for the afternoon.
