Free COVID tests available again....

The issue is not so much the printed expiration date as whether sufficient testing liquid remains. This stuff slowly evaporates through its container which can leave old kits useless.

I received mine today. There was a card enclosed stating:

"Please check FDA's website for updates to your COVID-19 test's expiration date"

You can find the new expiration dates at:

Just got my 4 free Covid tests shipped to me via USPS. Opened up the package to see expiration dates on the test boxes of 01/16/24. What? Am I seeing this right? Why can’t they mail us something more reasonable? No wonder they are free. Thanks Uncle Sam.
Yes, mine too. In general I believe the expiration dates have been extended a year. They enclosed a card with a link where you can look up a new date.

Yes, I understand expiration dates are extended. But when you receive ones already expired for 10 months, and you get just 3 months of remaining extended life out of them…..well essentially worthless. I guess we helped some warehouse clean out its rack spaces. So, there’s that.

Ours arrived today and the extended expiration date is December 26th. Also, no card enclosed in the envelope despite a notice on the outside of the envelope saying info on expiration would be inside.

Got mine today. Printed expiration date is Jan 31 2024 and extended expiration date is Jan 31 2025.
/similar to ours.
Most likely will use them during this winter season, around the DGK who bring home all kinds of germs from schools

Are there free COVID tests available these days? We are out of tests.

I don't believe so, pretty sure I remember the last mailing was the final stockpile.

That is my understanding also. We used the last of the free ones and have had to buy the last few.

Individual tests are $10 down at the local drugstore. I had a bad cold / sore throat this past spring and bought a couple (and fortunately got a negative result).

I bought a couple of tests today. Unfortunately, DH’s test turned out positive. He doesn’t feel bad. In fact, if we hadn’t had a close exposure to Covid, it wouldn’t have occurred to us to test. We would just have thought it was seasonal allergies.

We had an event to attend this afternoon and wanted to test to be sure we didn’t expose anyone else. Of course, we won’t be attending now.
