Free Showtime

A few months ago TCW sent me an email offering HBO for 3 months at no cost if I signed up. I did and so far, so good. Interesting programming, but I doubt that I will sign up for it on a paying basis.

Yesterday I received in the mail an offer from TWC for free Showtime for 12 months. Does not even ask me t sign up. I guess I have it for free for the next year, automatically.

They like you and want you to be happy.

Crack dealer model. They want you addicted to premium programming so you'll be more likely to remain a subscriber in the future. And if it's auto-renewed at full price, they'll probably make $20-30 off the average customer who doesn't pay attention to their bills.

The marginal cost of giving away HBO or showtime is probably around zero (assuming they have a deal with those networks).
