We preserve a lot of our own stuff in different ways.... dehydrate, vac-u-seal, can and such. A comment about a freeze dryer got me to thinking about one. Anyone else beside Rmcelwee have one?

This guy does deep dives on a lot of subjects, I watch a lot of them. I recently watched his video about Freeze Dryers.
The biggest downside I get from him is that they are very labor intensive, i.e. hours of time and work for little product. I think he gives enough info for you to make a decision.
Here's a link to many Freeze Dryer videos, I haven't watched, but some of the tittles suggest they wouldn't buy again. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=freeze+dryer

Well It took a while, but I just ordered one... $700 price cut pushed me over the edge.

Very useful appliance. They aren't all that labor intensive but it depends on the prep time of whatever you're freeze drying.

And my luck kicked in.... the day after I ordered it, they dropped the price another $200...
Thankfully one short phone call and they matched the offer...

Defiantly appears way less labor intensive than pressure canning. Just can't turn that on and walk away. Our 1st attempt is going to be to clean out the freezer..... a few leftover meals and several bags of veggies from the garden last fall.
