Glass Cleaner?

For times you find your windshield splattered with bugs..

Start by spray lightly with plain water, then rub lightly with a DRYER SHEET. This will form a whitish slightly slimy coating. Keep this moist and give it a few minutes to work, then the bugs will easily wipe off, even something like grasshoppers that have baked on for a couple weeks.

Good enough that I keep a dozen or so sheets in a zip lock bag under the seat (I run through a lot of bugs at times).

Another way that also works well if you don't have dryer sheets handy is to wet newspapers and lay them on the windshield for 20 minutes or so. This is just to keep the bugs wet and loosen them. Then wipe with the newspapers and then your normal glass cleaner. Yes, your hands will get black with ink but it does wash off with normal soap and water. Just don't touch the door frames or walls on your way to the bathroom to wash your hands.

BTW, if you have to deal with plexiglass windshields such as found on boats, airplanes and motorcycles WET newspapers are great for those because they won't scratch. This was a tip from an airplane mechanic decades ago.

FWIW, I've always found WD-40 to be excellent for removing bugs from my car's front end and windshield.

Thanks for that suggestion! Yet another use for dryer sheets!
