There are 15.8 million veterans alive in the US today, about 6.1% of the adult US population. Roughly one-third served in the Vietnam War, one-quarter in the Gulf War, and 28% serving since 9/11, the rest in peacetime. The percentage of veterans alive today who served in World War II is less than 0.2%.

Yes, thanks to all veterans (including me and my friends) who served in all conflicts and support jobs. Since I am a Vietnam vet, I have been losing guys I served with during the last few years. One on October 24th of this year. My close friend who still has fragments of enemy lead in his ass and thigh from getting his helicopter shot out of the sky, is now quickly slipping into dementia these days.

Thanks and thanks to all veterans. I managed to get out of Danang without injury. Veterans day is a reminder that many of the troops did not.

Thank you to our veterans for your service and the sacrifices you have made (both seen and unseen) in support of our Country.

A bit surprising, considering how few license plates and bumper stickers I see on the road, but there really are quite a few of us still on the right side of the grass.

Let’s not forget the Cold War, Panama, Granada, Somalia, Libya and even the dangers of military training.
May those who were lost find peace in God’s hands. May those who carry the scars of service not be forgotten by our country.

Thanks to all who served.

Especially to all the Vietnam veterans, I say "Welcome Home!"
