Hello everyone - I have enjoyed reading all the posts and good advice. Time to introduce myself. I am a 57 y/o wife, mom of two grown sons and "Lolli" to our 2 y/o granddaughter. She's the best! My husband and I are itching to pull the trigger and ditch the 9-5. I personally would just like to take about a year off, do some traveling and then work part time somewhere. Husband is 60 and says when he turns 62 that's it for him. I'm not sure I can handle the full time gig for much longer. I am a CFO for a healthcare facility and my husband works for a company that makes specialty parts for motorcycles. Being tied to a financial deadline calendar is cramping my style...hard to plan anything longer than a 1 week vacation! We enjoy mountain biking, off road dirt bike racing (husband and younger son race - I'm the support crew), and spending time with our other son/daughter in law and granddaughter. Covering healthcare will be the kicker until age 65 but I know there are ways to reduce cost.

I am excited to learn from all of you!

Welcome to our wonderful forum. Have you tried our forum's retirement calculator, named Firecalc?
As you probably know, you might be able to have potentially lower cost health insurance through the ACA (Obamacare) system if you can manage to keep your income to a lower amount.

Sounds like you and DH need to armwrestle about which year(s) to take off w*rk! Or maybe you are heartily sick of him and WANT to travel without him! :2funny:

Welcome!

Welcome!
We've spent time in Blue Ridge, GA and even panned for gold. Yep we got a few glimmers. Also enjoyed the Clouds (?) State Park.

Welcome to the Forum. I second the idea of using FIRECalc to see whether you're financially ready to pull the plug on w*rk.

Check back often and keep us posted on your plans. Best luck.
