Hello from retired Pacific North West (PNW) income investor

I am very South of SEA, but how do you like Montana? I have heard good things.
I like Montana. We live near a very small rural town. It's about 50 miles to the nearest stop light so the idea of "let's go to the store to get something for dinner" doesn't work :) We have lots of wildlife and the nearest neighbors are about a mile away. I really don't miss the traffic in the Puget Sound area. I didn't mind the cold winters but after about 14 years we decided to see what the "old folks" did in the winter in AZ, liked it and have been snow birds the last dozen or so years. OFC, politically it's a tad different :)

Heh, heh, I can't imagine living where you live (I'm first to agree that it sounds wonderful where you are.)

We made 5 trips to doctors last week! That would have been 500 miles in your neck of the woods! Just wouldn't w*rk for us at this stage of our lives.

Happy for you!

Next week we'll drive 300 miles each way to a surgery center and spend 2 nights in a hotel. One disadvantage of living in the "boonies".

Yes, at my age I think about things like emergency medical stuff.

At least your 300 mile trip will be scenic! Enjoy the trip and best luck at the surgery center.

Ambulance is at least 30-40 minutes away so good possibilty an emergency wil be the end.

We have the same issue here in Paradise from outer Islands. Most outer Islands have trauma centers that can usually stabilize patients but then an air ambulance to Oahu is required.

Of course anything requiring an ambulance is incredibly expensive and the "air" part increases that cost exponentially. For that and other reasons, we never really considered outer Island living though Real Estate tends to be a lot cheaper outside of Oahu.

I suppose we all make these calculations when we choose where to live. As we search for a new place to live in our old mainland city, we are specifically attempting to be closer to the hospital complexes. Here in Paradise, we are already very close to ambulance service. YMMV
