Hi, from Milwaukee

You should try Bryant's Cocktail Lounge, a venerable institution where the Pink Squirrel was invented: The history of the Pink Squirrel ice cream drink, invented in Milwaukee

Most of us transplants are amazed by the devotion to Brandy. I was at a well-known supper club near the Dells (Ishnala) with a friend, and she asked me to fetch her a Manhattan. Then she said "WAIT, make sure it is a whiskey Manhattan, not brandy." I rolled my eyes and said, "sure thing." I went to the bar and just ordered a Manhattan, and the barkeep asked "Brandy or whiskey?" Okay, she was right.

Where is that Bloody from? Sobelman's? Wicked Hop?
The Old Fashioneds at Ishnala are awesome as is the setting.

I read years ago that Wisconsin drank more brandy than the rest of the entire country. No clue if that’s really true, but I loved old fashions and always had them madewith Brandy. Wisconsin was the only state that could make a decent old-fashioned.

@Out-to-Lunch The BM is Sobelman's. This is another option. The Old Fashions are great here. I have totally immersed myself in Wisconsin. No longer a Nationals fan. Brewers all the way. The sports fans in this state are ridiculously great.

CoCheesehead- I was born at St. Joseph's also. "it was late December back in 63.."

Spent childhood in Brookfield and in the Kettle Moraine area.
I used to hike the Kettle Moraine in summer, X Country ski it in winter. Had many a summer picnic at Mauthe Lake.

Looks a little, uhh, understated, doesn't it? Maybe they should add something to it. :)

Wisconsin consumes more than half of Korbel's entire brandy production, a fact that Korbel confirms. I had trouble finding overall numbers for all brandy, but I have seen a figure that we consume about 1/3 of the brandy in the US. And obviously by far the most per capita.
