Same guy/name from the Big Bang board. Was also at the Mstar boards back when they were good, the Armchair board, and whatever else. Don't remember what screen names I used.

At 71 I sure as hell didn't retire "early." I was self-employed and enjoyed what I did, but medical problems caught up with me. That was 5 years ago.

My portfolio is my retirement money so I'm not a trader, mostly buy and hold. I get a lot of my income from CEFs, and that's my main reason for being here. Not much talk about them elsewhere.

Welcome Broozer, and I'm glad you retired, but sorry it was for medical reasons. That is a common occurrence these days it seems. I am the same age as you, but was lucky enough to be retired for 10 years.

Thanks to you and the others. I woke up one day in April 2021 with severe acute pain in my wrists and hands. It got worse over days/weeks and being a toolmaker, lifting heavy stuff routinely, I had to hang it up. At one point I could barely brush my teeth because of the pain.

Docs said it was arthritis; I didn't believe it then and don't believe it now. Within a year it went away. I had major neck surgery in 2011 and I think it's from that. Arthritis coming on literally overnight, then disappearing in less than a year? Gimme a break. Oh well, can't expect much more than that from a med system that soaks up a measly $5 trillion per year.

FWIW: I keep getting email notifications for this thread despite shutting ALL notifications off, including ALL emails. I keep getting email so I have marked them as spam, so if admin or anyone else ever emails me I will not see them.
