Do any women with medium length, somewhat thick hair use a hot air brush? And if so, does it truly function as the only tool needed or do you still have to use a hair dryer or curling iron? I currently let my hair dry naturally most days, but if I really want it to look good, I blow dry it and style it with a curling iron. I heard from a friend about these hot air brush products, but I’m a bit skeptical one tool can really replace my hair dryer and curling iron. If it’s true, I’m going to buy one!

I have the Dyson Airwrap with all the attachments, and use the brush heads the most. It's ideal because it has a regular dryer head as well - I use the brush mostly for the ends and the front, but the basic dryer just to get everything mostly dry.
I don't use a curling iron, but there are curling attachments with the dyson also.

I highly recommend it, yes, it's a BTD, but it is on sale now, and at Costco. I've had mine since 2019 and despite the price tag I would march right out and get a new one if when this one dies.

Shark has a cheaper/knock off version that's about $250.

I have a generic one. It works fine, but I prefer my curling iron for finishing, it seems to smooth the hair better than the brush.
That said, usually I just let my hair air dry, as it's a bit shorter now.

Thank you for the info. I have a Dyson hair dryer and love it so I don’t mind BTD if it’s really useful. With the Air Wrap, can you use one tool for everything, or do you have to use one thing for drying and a different attachment for styling?

it comes with a half dozen attachments depending what you want to do. I use the basic drying attachment, then the two brush/comb ones depending how much I want to straighten or just style. Then there are curling attachments also.

Each attachment has a different styling purpose. But the one "main" tool is for everything, just swap out the heads to do different stuff.

You might want to look into attachments for the regular dyson dryer as they are often adding things.

DW has a gorgeous long silver maine of thick hair, and doesn't even have a hair drier. She just brushes it out and goes....

After doing more research, I’m not sure I’m a great candidate for the Airwrap. I don’t like spending a lot of time on my hair and I’m not sure I’d have the patience to get through the learning curve. I’m going to try one of the inexpensive hot air brushes since my objective is to save time and use only one tool for drying and styling. We’ll see how it goes.

I bought a Revlon brush. It has joined the junkyard of hair appliances i thought I'd use but don't. Honestly, mine sounds like a hive of bees when I turn it on, and I can't stand the sound long enough to use it.

One thing to note - they come in various sizes. The big one was very heavy and unwieldy for me so I went with a smaller one which is much easier to use.

I bought one of the hot brush type thing. I blow dry my hair normally, then usually put in rollers for about 10 minutes. Then I end up with a straight long bob with body. If I let it dry natually, I have a wavy, fuzzy mess. I have used the hot brush to make it look more presentable when I let it dry naturally. It does help in that case. But overall, if I blow dry 5 minutes (my hair dries fast), and use rollers for 10 mins, it looks best and lasts 3 days. The hot brush method only lasts a day or two before it looks flat and bad.

My daughter got the Dyson dryer/styler and rarely uses it. I think she gave it to her daughter.
