I had the panini lunch late today, because we ran an errand.
After my curiosity was piqued by the OP getting top sirloin for $4, and I surfed the Web to find there was $4 petite sirloin from my local Safeway, I told my wife of the good deal. She said, "But I already told you about it, and you never paid any attention". There's no good deal that escapes my dear wife's attention.
I meekly protested, "You know, I was busy looking to sell covered calls, so did not remember".
She then asked, "Are you going to the store with me, or I can go alone". I thought I was already done with selling calls for today, so wanted to get out of the house too.
On the way, my wife said, "We need to go to the ATM for some cash, so might as well stop by Fry's to get some food stuff. Plus, they mailed me a coupon for a free dozen eggs". I said, "What? I thought eggs are expensive". She said "Yeah, but this deal is for their preferred customers". I thought everybody was their preferred customer, but that did not matter. And the coupon said free large or extra large eggs. Not jumbo eggs, but why would anyone choose large instead of extra large, I wonder.
Back home at 1PM. While waiting on the panini, I fired up the laptop to look at the brokerage screen. UH OH! The market turned back down to where it was at open. Big losses for me today.
I was scared, so sold more OTM covered contracts to get more cash. Well, I lied because I was not scared (not yet), and I sold covered contracts when I liked it, whether I was scared or not. This belongs in another thread, but might as well tell y'all about it here. After lunch and the trades, the market closed, and I needed to go out to the backyard for my daily chores, so just got back in the house now.
In any event, it looks like food prices are going down. Or am I mistaken?
By the way, the petite sirloin on sale was not marbled and may not make good steak. But to turn it into ground beef or stew meat is quite all right. In the past, once I was surprised when it turned out to be nice tender steak.
